My "dear" T Y B Chem Eng and T Y B Tech students,
It is high time I do some straight talk to you.
(1) I wonder whether anyone from T Y B Tech and T Y B Chem Eng are receiving my emails ! I hardly receive any acknowledgement of the receipt of my emails. If you are really not receiving my notes, OR, if the word "acknowledgement" is missing from your Dictionary, I will stop emailing my notes, and I will remove all my notes from my googlesite too.
(2) I have also noted that some students attend other lectures later in the day, attend "meetings" related to "ICT Fests", but abstain from my morning lectures. I will have to start TAKING ATTENDANCE RECORDS more seriously in that case. Please Do not misuse the freedom and liberty that I offer generously to students.
(3) I have also noted (over the last 2 semesters) that there is a tremendous resistance on part of a large number of students for HOME ASSIGNMENT AND ITS SUBMISSION. I note that these students are VERY ACTIVE in various ICT Fests and other extra-curricular activities. While I heartily welcome and always support extra-curricular activities, these should not be at the cost of academics.
(4) Unlike some students may believe, conducting lectures is NOT the only duty I have. I, like many of my esteemed colleagues, do have Master's and PhD students. In case you are not aware, I, like many of my esteemed colleagues, do have an active research program of my own. My research students too rightfully have a share in our time. In addition, some of the faculty members do a lot of Administrative duties without which ICT cannot function.
(5) Last but not the least: PUNCTUALITY. Non-punctuality has become the first nature with most of you lot. Punctuality is EXTREMELY POOR, and I SHALL NOT TOLERATE THIS ATTRIBUTE on your part. I don't wish to be a popular teacher by appeasing such tendencies of remorseless students.
If I do not see a substantial change in the attitude, I will be forced to take drastic measures to enforce discipline.
Best wishes, TAKE CARE !
AVP
