Who Should We Blame for Irish Rejection of Lisboa Treaty ?
The French want their Cake and Want to Eat it Too !!!
The Guest of Honor to Indian Republic Day Parade Chokes on His Own
Words. - Nicholas Sarkozy and the Europe He Wants -
The gaps between the Common people of Europe and the Superstate of the
United States of Europe, otherwise called Fortress Europe are visible
for all diplomatic observervers.
African and world diplomats are sensing how the European leaders are
attempting to transform local unrest into global name calling.
Just below the bonhomie of EU of European elite, still lie simmering
nation state egos and battles.
The French President Sarkozy has sought to blame the EU Trade
Commissioner for the "unforgiveable gaffe", as the Brussels tin pot
soldiers will have it.
Some have attempted to put a charade of playful mood on the face of
the wily French President, on this veiled attack on the outgoing EU
Trade Commissioner Mr Mandelson.
The real issues in the next coming months is going to be how the
rising food prices and the rising global oil prices are used by
European elite to transform the distrust Europeans feel about
Brussels, into yet another tool for flexing their muscles on the
Middle Eastern countries, Latin America, China and India.

At a press conference in Brussels, Mr Sarkozy said that the European
Commission's trade policies had alarmed Irish farmers and contributed
to the No vote.
He said: "A child dies of starvation every 30 seconds and the
Commission wanted to reduce European agriculture production by 21 per
cent during World Trade Organisation (WTO) talks. This was really
counter-productive."
He listed issues which contributed to the No vote including Irish
concerns over euthanasia, abortion and the world trade talks - adding:
"Mandelson."
The unusual public spat follows growing tensions between France and
the Commission over attempts to cut trade protections for EU farmers.
A spokesman for the Trade Commissioner said: “Peter Mandelson has a
mandate from 27 member states not just France. He is doing his job.
The summit's conclusions today will reconfirm the importance of a
world trade deal."
France and Mr Sarkozy have waged a campaign, aimed at protecting huge
subsidies and import protections for French farmers, to undermine Mr
Mandelson during World Trade Organisation negotiations.
Diplomats and Brussels officials regard the attack on Mr Mandelson as
a thinly veiled attempt to scapegoat the European Commission for
Ireland's referendum rejection.
Paris is hostile to José Manuel Barroso, the Commission President,
because he is seen as representing an anti-protectionist, “Anglo-
Saxon”, free market agenda.
