For those of you interested in expanding your homesteading and self-sufficiency skills, here are a few upcoming events:
Illinois Valley Community College Homesteading Conference, April 9
http://www.ivcc.edu/cec.aspx?id=22405
Classes on our farm: soapmaking, cheesemaking (beginner and advanced), knitting, fiber processing, maple syrup, homesteading, composting

Second Annual Mid-America Homesteading Conference, August 31, Joliet Junior College
http://www.homesteadingconference.com/Someone recently asked me about the difference between the two homesteading conferences. The August 31 conference is "bigger" although limited to 80 participants. There are more sessions, more speakers, an on-site bookstore, and other exhibitors. You could definitely attend both and not repeat anything.
