I send this to the mailinglist as well, in case any more users would like to help betatesting 3.0 before we put it into public.

Beta testing Foodle version 3.0 - Part I

Foodle v3.0 includes a number of new features / changes, where the most important new feature is calendar integration (icalendar + freebusy). This first part of the beta testing, will focus on all those changes that are not related to calendaring. I will send out a new instruction regarding explicitly testing the calendar integration part.

I have not written a User’s Manual for Foodle v3.0 beta. It should be as simple to use that it is not strictly necessary - but that is left to see - if things are not clear, let me know - and also help me suggest how to make it easier to use.

Accessing Foodle 3.0 Beta

Foodle is now available on:

Currently only login through Feide + OpenIdP is activated.

Foodle 3.0 uses the same database as the production Foodle, but the content follows an updated format.

You should not respond to foodles created on foodle.feide.no using foodl.org! It will cause foodle.feide.no to fail.

Create foodles and respond to them through foodl.org. Invite other Beta users to respond, and not other people (that have not agreed to be part of the beta testing).

Frontpage

There is some minor changes to the frontpage. The main difference is the activity stream.

Please comment the front page, and suggest useful things that you would like to have added to the front page.

Create new Foodle

Name and description is not changed.

Setup columns is very different. It now distinguish between date Foodles and general text foodles. Play with it and see if it is intuitive and user friendly?

The preview is now also live within the setup columns tab.

The column setup is javascript intensive. You may add more options if you need more options (unlimited). In the dates setup, you may also copy the times to all dates.

The advanced options tab is not modified.

After the foodle is created you are brought to a distribute/share tab of the foodle you created. OK?

Respond to Foodle

The respond to Foodle page is modified.

There is a separate tab for your response. OK? Your response are also listed under all responses. After you respond, you are taken to the all responses tab.

If the calendar you respond to is calendar-enabled, and your calendar is connected, you may respond with your calendar.

You cannot edit your name, and the user id is hidden as a mouse over.

Calendar integration

Calendar integration is implemented, but not ready for public testing yet. I’ll send out a new instruction for testing that.

Feedback

Please give me feedback if things do not work as expected, or anything else you would like to express regarding Foodle.

Translation

Foodle 3.0 beta is translated into bokmål, nynorsk, danish, english, german, swedish, spanish, slovenian and partly croatian, netherlands and finnish.

Javascript

Responding to foodles works (if not very smooth) without javascript enabled.

Creating foodles requires javascript.
