Comfort and Joy (1984, Bill Forsyth)

MON, MAR 1, 6:30 PM. Free admission + ice cream.
Adams House Pool Theatre in Harvard Square (map). Doors close at 6:45 pm; see website for details.

What do you do when your ice cream truck is ambushed? Alan 'Dickey' Bird is a popular Glasgow radio personality who seems to have the world on a string -- until his kleptomaniac girlfriend, Maddy, walks out on him the week before Christmas. Depressed and lonely, Alan tries to find meaning in his empty life and gets embroiled in a cold war between two feuding Italian ice cream families.

"Director Bill Forsyth (Gregory's Girl, Local Hero)...has made a specialty out of characters who are as real as you and me, and nicer than me" - Roger Ebert
