9-DAY PERMACULTURE DESIGN CERTIFICATE (PDC) INTENSIVE

The Kansas Permaculture Institute will offer a nine-day PDC intensive course at Prairie Lovesong Farm, an active permaculture site near Lawrence, KS.  The new dates during one full week are more convenient for participants, and we are now able to offer a camping discount of $150, and a student discount of $200.  In addition to intensive on-site activities, there will be field trips and design charrettes at a variety of urban and broad-acre farm sites, some which have been practicing permaculture principles for decades.

Prepare to enjoy nine days of world class instruction from two instructors well-versed in North American temperate permaculture of the Great Plains Bioregion - Steve Moring of Kaw Permaculture, and Wayne Weiseman of The Permaculture Project.

This intensive course promises to be a personally transformative and community building experience.  Among the topics central to permaculture design, participants will learn how to apply principles of ecological design to both the urban and broad-acre settings.  The course will include classroom instruction, hands-on exercises, group discussion and teamwork, and field trips to six local urban garden and farm sites.

Students who complete this course will be awarded a Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) from the Kansas Permaculture Institute, a project of the not-for-profit Sustainability Action Network.  The K.P.I. mission is to provide oversight in the development of permaculture course curriculum, training of permaculture students and maintaining a PDC graduate registry, planning of community educational events, and research and maintenance of Kansas regional permaculture demonstration sites.

The keystone of the permaculture movement is education in the ethics and principles of ecological design.  The PDC course is the foundation for a regenerative design of our human environments, agriculture and communities.  To this end, Bill Mollison, co-founder with David Holmgren of the Permaculture Movement, established the content and curriculum of a 72-hour Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) course.  Since the mid 1980s, these courses have been taught in thousands of communities worldwide.
