The Take-In of Take-Out: Exploring the links between Diets and Disease
in Asia
When: March 8th, 2012 6:30pm to 9pm
Where: Greenspaces
394 Broadway, 5th floor
New York, NY 10013
Hosted By: Asian Affairs Committee of UNA-USA
In honour of National Nutrition Month, the Young Professionals Asian
Affairs Committee will convene an expert panel for a 90-minute
discussion focused on issues of food security, food quality and
agriculture, and their impacts on NonCommunicableDiseases in Asian
countries. High instances of malnutrition, obesity and vitamin
deficiencies in these regions point to larger systemic problems, but
also possible solutions. In September 2011, world leaders gathered at
the UN Headquarters in New York for the historic Summit on Non-
Communicable Diseases. The Summit yielded commitments from
stakeholders to aggressively take action on this issue, in addition to
emphasizing the importance of successful outcomes in achieving the
Millennium Development Goals (MDG).
Please join the Asian Affairs Committee as we explore this important
topic, and look towards progressive action in our local communities
and abroad.
