1. Youth Engagement Co-ordinator
Jamaican Self-Help (JSH) is seeking a dynamic individual with a vision
of
youth engagement and inclusion to work on its "Engaging Youth 4 Global
Change" programme. This position will work with young people (ages
15-20+)
from the Peterborough and Northumberland region to organize around
global
poverty and inequity issues, and will support JSH to develop policies
and
practices to integrate youth fully into its organizational culture and
operations. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience
engaging
youth, a knowledge base of international co-operation and global
poverty
issues, and excellent communication and organizational skills.

2. Seasoned Spoon Coordinator Job Description
The Seasoned Spoon is a student owned and operated café at Trent
University. Operating for the past seven years out of student spaces the
Spoon occupies a unique situation within the university, making strong
communication skills a necessity for our coordinator. The coordinator's
position operates on an annual contract which extends from September to
April. It is our aim to source foods which are locally and organically
produced, a goal which is always a challenge through the long Ontario
winter.
The Coordinator of the Seasoned Spoon is responsible for overseeing
general cafe operations including: staffing, finance, ordering, and
liaising with the university and board of directors. In order to
effectively complete these tasks, we are looking for a motivated
individual who possesses strong communication and organizational skills.
Adaptability is also important, as the university is always in
transition. The position offers a great deal of flexibility in
scheduling.
Necessities:
Awareness of food security issues
Strong written & verbal communication skills
Familiarity with excel, word, e-mail, organization skills
Keen interest in food & cooking
Experience budgeting & costing
Assets:

2 years or more coordination/administration role (restaurant experience
preferred)

Grant writing experience

Experience cooking in a commercial setting

Knowledge of Quick Books,

Knowledge of local food producers

Knowledge of safe food handling
Duties:
Food Sourcing

* Budgeting, coordinating and ordering food for cafe, facilitating
menu planning, establishing connections with local producers
Managing Café Operations

* Training volunteers & staff, ensuring overall cleanliness and
preparedness of cafe, costing food, setting portion sizes, Set portion
sizes, preparing weekly report with financial update, food and equipment
inventories, maintaining equipment, ensure health and safety training of
all staff, hiring, programming cash register
Administrative Duties

* Managing cash daily (cash reports, banking deposits), phone and
e-mail communication, payroll, paying accounts, working with book-keeper
to manage accounting, researching and purchasing equipment and food
items, applying for funding and subsidies, tax remittance, catering
administration, liaise with Trent personelle, develop systems for smooth
operation of cafe, liaise with Trent gardener, keep record of work done

22+ hours per week Sept-April
