Good morning food action teamsters,

At our last meeting we decided to schedule a walking tour of Northeast Corvallis to find gardens to feature on our edible garden tour this year. We could do this as a group or in pairs.

I believe Kelsey was going to make a small flyer for us to hand out as we do our walking tour.

I am available to do this:
Saturday June 22
Sunday June 23
Saturday June 29
Sunday June 30

Who's with me!?

Perhaps we can start at Jill's house and walk outward, or if Annette has contacted Maureen we could start there.

Thank you, looking forward to a fun edible garden tour this summer!
Aliza

I'm so sorry, but I'm not available any of those times. I've got Friday afternoon devoted to seed rack stocking and Saturday all morning to holding a public seed library plant clinic. I've got a ton of things to get done before my daughter arrives on Tuesday to visit until the holiday weekend.

How well-developed does a garden need to be? We're in the process of getting our garden together, but it feels nowhere near done. I'm in NE Corvallis though if you want to take a peek! 2825 NE Conser

Here’s what works for me:

·        Sat 6/29 – After 2 pm

·        Sun 6/30 – All day

Thank you for setting this up!

Do you want me to put out a call early next week to the Coalition’s largest Google groups, saying that we’ve selected NE Corvallis for this year’s tour and asking if anyone has or knows of a garden in NE Corvallis that should be considered for the tour?

(FYI – Maureen’s incredible garden had to be torn up to put in a new septic system. So she’s starting over from scratch. L)

Good evening foodies,

Thanks to all who responded to this email! It's looking like this year's tour is coming together!

Based on responses to our survey and this map, here are some proposed boundaries of this years' tour:
  • North of Circle Blvd
  • Between Hwy 20 and Hwy 99 (to the west of Highway 20 and to the East of Hwy 99)
  • South of Jackson Frazier Wetland
It looks like Annette, Kathy, and I are available on Saturday, and we're all available at 3pm. It looks like it'll be about 75 degrees, so not too hot at that time. Does that work for the two of you to meet to go on a walking/biking tour of the neighborhood? I propose we meet at the corner of Conser and Angelee Place (the furthest south garden).

Are there others who want to go on a garden finding tour on Saturday with us?

Thanks! I'm looking forward to it.
Aliza

Hi, Aliza,

Thank you for organizing this walk! I’ve re-arranged my schedule for Saturday and plan to meet you, Kathy, and others at the corner of Conser and Angelee Place at 3 pm.

See you then!

I will be in Portland, but you will probably walk by my garden. It's not much to look at right now because we went lawn free and decided to redue our raised beds and spread the free mulch (compliments of the train derailment) piled at cheldelin middle school. Needless to say that means we got everything in the ground late and I just planted herb and veggie seeds that have not even come up yet . I live at 1098 Northeast Conifer blvd, it's a Habitat for Humanity house as is my two neighbors homes. I'm in the yellow house, the blue house behind me have a lovely Garden, not sure how much of it is for edible purposes. They mainly speak Spanish. Anyway I always thought it would be nice for Habitat for Humanity to showcase the gardens of  their homeowners. The houses don't come landscaped so pretty much anytime you see a habitat house the yard is due to the hard work of the homeowner which makes each one unique. Sorry I will miss out, and especially sorry that our huge artichoke plant didn't survive the last freeze it was quite a showstopper and made for many fun conversations with neighbors. Someone once called it the Dr Seuss plant LOL. Happy gardening, Michele

Hello everyone

Juliana here, from Philomath.
I won't be able to join the walk but I would like to know if I can get a directory and plan
going with a senior support group, the Dementia Warriors, and look at the gardens another time.

Thank you.

Hi Juliana,

Thanks for getting in touch. This Edible Garden Tour will be planned for a date in August that works for all of our host gardens. To respect the hosts' time, we will only ask them to open their gardens for the date & time of the tour, usually about three hours in August. The tour should be a great experience for everyone, so I encourage you, if possible, to include the Dementia Warriors group on the date & time planned for the whole community. We can talk offline (not to the whole google group) if you have questions or if there are specific things we can do to help make this even more accessible.

Thanks!
Aliza
