Hello Fellow Foodies!

We hope you're all enjoying this fall weather! We are writing today with 2 upcoming opportunities to support the Food Action Team and your local community and an event reminder.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

1) Help us table at the November 16th Sagra / Fill Your Pantry event!
  • What you'll do: Join Food Action Team co-Facilitator, Henry, to share information about what the Food Action Team is up to and how to get involved. Nervous that you don't have a pulse on the various programs? Nothing to worry about! We'll have all of the materials and Henry will be there to answer the "hard questions"!
  • When: November 16th - 2 shifts (12 - 1:30 pm / 1:30 - 3:00 pm)
  • Where: Benton County Fairgrounds
2) Help us verify and proof entries in the Garden Resource Guide. Do you have an hour or two to make an important contribution to our community? One of our most popular resources is the Corvallis Garden Resource Guide. Both new and long-time gardeners rely on this guide for valuable information, and we’re looking for a few volunteers to help us with updates for the 2026 edition of the guide. Here’s all you’d have to do:
  • Email or phone the people/organizations/businesses listed in your section(s) to see if their current entry in the guide is still valid or if they want to make changes. Note any changes on the pages and email them back to us.
It’s easy – but important! Please let us know ASAP, and no later than Friday, Oct. 24, if you can help.

UPCOMING EVENT

Also, don't forget that the next Cooks & Books program will be held at the Corvallis Community Center next Thursday, Oct. 23, from 5 - 6:30 PM, when we'll learn about Peruvian cooking with Valery Cam. Valery will demonstrate how to prepare Ají de Gallina, one of Peru’s most beloved traditional dishes.

Cooks & Books is a free, in-person cooking demo with local chefs followed by an informal discussion and cookbook recommendations. Free for all (Ages 12+) and brought to you by Parks and Recreation, Corvallis Benton-County Library, and the Corvallis Multicultural Literacy Center and the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition. Registration is not required.
