Sean Kelly went in the complete opposite direction: he decided to make the rain work with his outfit instead of repel it. He designed a gorgeous white dress, with mesh packets filled with colored powder RIT dye sewn in the seams. As the model walked down the rainway, the water would cause the dye to spread over the dress and create a gradient. Sean only had one chance to make this work, but if he succeeded, it would be a showstopper.
We are excited to share the current state of biodiversity on the Rainway and a series of recommendations on we can build off the Rainway design to further encourage biodiversity in this report back: -george-rainway/st-george-rainawy-2022-bioblitz-report-back.pdf
Whether you attended the event or not, you are invited to fill out the survey. Share your thoughts with us on how we can best design the St. George Rainway to meet our drainage needs and enhance mobility, nature, community, and opportunities for learning in the neighbourhood. The survey will be open from June 14 to July 4: -george-rainway/survey_tools/co-designing-for-co-benefits
While we were there, a few cyclists cruised along and various drivers drove hesitantly down the rainway. While it might have been the sight of us, 2 cyclists wandering around with their cameras , it was obvious some drivers were seeing the road painting for the first time also. Some cars inched slowly down the side of the road, not down the centre of the
On my x86 pc rainway web app through chrome can use my current configuration with keyboard and mouse. On pi4 aarch64 it does not recognise those devices. Does anyone know what could be causing this issue? However the escape button works when trying to quit a session.
You won't need to be a technological wizard to set the program up, either. Ideally, it will automatically handle all of the technical bits required to connect to your PC. You would simply have to run Rainway on your PC and then log into play.rainway.io via a web browser on whatever device you would like to use to play your game. While Andrew Sampson concedes that game streaming technology already exists, he states that his solution will "allow games to be transmitted from your computer to another device in super-high quality, and with practically no lag".
In line with the rain city strategy, green rainwater infrastructure, such as the new rainway, incorporates both nature and engineering to better manage water: to slow its movement and filter it before it reaches local waterways.
On a sunny afternoon in September, The Narwhal spoke to a handful of residents who live along St. George Street. Some were supportive of the project, at least in part, with one neighbour saying the rainway could encourage people to rethink their driving habits and another citing its benefits for drainage. Others raised concerns about the loss of street parking and the prospect of elderly visitors or residents having to walk further to their homes. Residents have also questioned the impact on emergency vehicle access to the street and potential challenges for garbage pick up and home deliveries.
