The formidable techno maiden also saw her steadiest year of production credits, dropping three EPs including follow up singings with Second State and Kneaded Pains after releasing singles with both labels in 2019. Then her track 'Sodium' via Second State was included in our 20 in 2020: Musical Pearls From The Electronic Asian Deep. Despite a global pandemic Risa Taniguchi experienced a career year. Just to make sure 2020 was her plateau, Tokyo's rapidly rising princess of techno kickstarted 2021 by being included in our feature This Is Asia: 20 Female Artists Pushing The Sound Of The Far East Forward.

With 2020 in the rearview mirror and 2021 in her headlights, Risa Taniguchi seems to have found a hidden sixth gear and is seamlessly drifting around the industry's corners. With her debut EP on Cin Cin already out, Taniguchi drops her sophomore release with Second State in her When I See You EP. The four-track release finds Taniguchi in her element kicking things off with two raging techno bangers in 'When I See You' and 'Mute Everything'. The tracks have dominating kick drums and heavy driving bass lines, flurries of hi-hats, percussion, shakers and bright distorted synth lines to fill out the edges. Pure dancefloor techno bangers and absolutely suited to Risa's home turfs of Vent, Contact and Womb.

Things get really interesting when we reach the third and fourth tracks as Risa takes a more risky and experimental approach here. 'Reunited G' is the lightest track of the release, abandoning the heavy kicks in favour of melodies, vocal snippets, tambourines and bass notes. Then 'Isolated Island' finishes the EP in crackling form. Risa's own vocals feature on the track and the drums and melody play a nice call and answer game throughout.

This is just the most adorable thing I have seen to date. You executed it perfectly, and your directions were easy to follow. I wanted one when my kids were small, but I ended up buying an electrical one from a stage prop company. Thank you for sharing. I actually have an indoor s'more making set-up that I take to grown-up parties now that my kids are grown. I'm making s'more cookie bars from a Pinterest post I saw for a baby shower this weekend. The fun doesn't stop when the kids get bigger.

Oh. My. Gosh. This is THE MOST INCREDIBLE, IMAGINATIVE, CREATIVE, FUN DIY PROJECT EVER!
I just watched this on Studio 5 and was mesmerized by the detail and simplicity of this camping fun! There were so many details that made this complete and I just can't imagine not having every single little detail as shown from logs to stones. With the magnetic fishing trip, to toasting hotdogs and marshmallows, it was just an absolute 10+++.
As this churned my imagination for small additions, I thought how fun it would be to extend it into the nighttime hours, the 'lights-out' occasion....bedtime. How fun to turn off the light and turn on the lamp that shines sparkly stars in the sky (on the ceiling) and one of the 'soundscape' recordings of a campfire crackling. Add a little battery powered, color-changing light to put in the center of the campfire with perhaps some type of see-thru fabric, and the camping experience continues long into the night.
A delightful set-up to have at Grandma's house where memories will be made and shared with giggly little grandchildren snuggling deep into their sleep-over, sleeping bags. Cousins making memories and bringing the outdoors in.
What a wonderful, creative talent you have shared. This is the greatest 'package' I have ever seen and I thank KSL Studio 5 for bringing it into our homes and hearts, and I thank you for your willingness to share! What a magnificent gift. Thank you.

Vickie, wow, I think that is the nicest compliment I have ever received. Thank you so much! I would love to see if you create more. We have a star lamp. I had forgotten about it. I am excited to get it out. How perfect. I think we now need a CD with cricket sounds ;-) Thanks again gor stopping by. You are so sweet!

Hi funjani, thanks for your nice comment. We have one of those s'more cookers as well, it's the best! My kids love it, and I don't have to smell like a real campfire, haha. Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed your s'more bars :-)

Hi there! So in love with this project. A couple questions:
Where/how did you make that cute little teepee with white/blue striped fabric? It looks really easy to do but I"m not sure how. And 2- how did you make the felt chocolate bars look like that? Would love a mini tutorial on the marshmallows/grahams/chocolate. Thanks!

Love your firepit and fishing pond! Saw it on studio 5 but just getting brave enough to try it. I think I've figured out everything but the marshmellows and hot dogs. Do you have any patterns or suggestions?

Hi Maddie, I didn't do a tutorial for them, sorry. The hot dogs were just strips that I folded in half, and sewed up one side. I then turned them most of the way inside out, but left part of it inside. Then I just cut the bottom (that wasn't tucked in) into a curve. The marshmallows were two circles and a strip. I pinned and machine sewed the strip onto the circles. The strip overlapped on the side of the marshmallow where it met up. When I turned it right side out, I used the place where the strip overlapped to stick the roaster in. I will see if I can find a picture. I kinda just winged the whole thing, so I felt dumb doing a tutorial for that. So, I hope this makes sense, haha. So, you stick your roaster in the side, not the top. I actually hand stitched around the opening for the hole for the roaster to go in. Does that all make sense?

Hi Jill. I thought I replied to this before. Sorry. I just found a tent tutorial online. There are tons. It was actually really easy! As for the chocolate, I just used 2 pieces of brown felt, sewed a square and then lines through it. I kinda winged it. I felt like if I cut the chocolate squares a little big, then sewed them, and trimmed again after it worked great.

For my first solo backpacking trip, the Laurel Highlands (LHHT) felt so doable. The starting point was only an hour from my house and 70 miles was a lot, but really not all that much. Jeremy had work that weekend so after some convincing and a quick Walmart shopping trip I was on my way! Kimbo and Sadie were thrilled to go on a road trip and gleefully barked through the window at all the dogs and people at Ohiopyle, where the trail begins. I had prepared by downloading the app Alltrails and was confident that even if something bad happened I was not far from safety.

The first seven miles up to the first shelter were brutal. I realized that though I had done weekend backpacking trips in Israel, Pennsylvania was a far cry from the deserts of the Middle East. Walking with 12 liters of water was not only difficult but also incredibly unnecessary. Eventually after an upward climb, during which I only slipped once, I reached the first campsite.

I had opted out of taking a tent as it was nice weather and I was carrying not only water and food for myself, but also for two dogs. After dinner over a small but crackling campfire, I lassoed the dogs to the shelter and bedded down for the night. Unfortunately Kimbo and Sadie were not fans of the open three-sided structure. It was a long night. Every whisper of wind the dogs would bark, and every few minutes one would get up to readjust and check how the other two members of their party were faring. I raised city dogs. And yet it was beautiful. Underneath us a stream babbled and above us there were stars.

I had agreed with Jeremy that he would pick me up that day at a trail crossing and drive me back to my car. Unfortunately I had failed to give him an exact location and my cell service was limited. An hour and a half later a very disgruntled husband showed up and together we drove a somewhat silent ride past the 14 beautiful miles I had traversed, back to my car.

I was slightly more prepared the next weekend I hiked out. I was carrying significantly less water and had invested in doggy backpacks!! Dog backpacks are not only possibly the cutest things ever but also likely the most practical hiking equipment I have ever purchased. After a lot of research I chose the K9 mountainsmith dog packs both for the price point and quality. Kimbo and Sadie were thrilled to have a task and the weight on my own back was significantly reduced. Win-win!

However, despite my extensive prep work, I still had not mastered map reading and again Jeremy was stuck searching ATV and fire roads to find us. Though he was not overly pleased it was still exciting to have officially reached the halfway point! Writing in the trail book gave me a huge sense of triumph. Making it 35 miles felt like no small feat for a first solo hiking trip with the dogs. I had come this far and knew I would make it the rest.
