It’s a three channel trainer for my daughter. She picked the colors and painted. It flies great and super slow.

Cool .. What are the specs (size, motor, ESC)? Foam type?

Russell,

It uses two HXT 500 5 gram servos, “Blue Wonder” type 1300kv motor (I’m using the EMax 2805 Blue Wonder clone). Hobby King 10A ESC. 7 inch prop. So, it basically uses the cheapest parts available.

I used EPP foam but others have made it out of various materials including Dollar Store foam. It’s just a bit heavier and not quite as crash proof. This thing was designed to be very hard to damage. Perfect trainer. I built it for my daughter but I’m also planning to use it buddy box a couple of friends that have been wanting to learn to fly. Free plans are in the Scratch Build forum on RC Groups along with a lengthy thread. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1174874. www.fancyfoam.com sells a couple of pre-cut kits. There’s a guy on the RC Groups thread who made a 5 foot wingspan version out of Dollar Tree foam with under-cambered wings. In his video it looks like it flies about 3 mph.

That is awesome! How is your daughter enjoying flying it (I have a 10 year old that might want to do some flying)? Do you have any videos?

Just seeing that picture has given me the itch to do some scratch building again ... and flying! "Where is that simulator dongle?"

On a slightly more serious note, I can't wait for summer to start to get together for some flying again. Unfortunately I have a standing commitment for Sunday evenings at this stage so it would have to be Sunday mornings or Saturday evenings (or some other time during the weekend).

Have a great day!
