Russell,
It uses two HXT 500 5 gram servos, “Blue Wonder” type 1300kv motor (I’m using the EMax 2805 Blue Wonder clone). Hobby King 10A ESC. 7 inch prop. So, it basically uses the cheapest parts available.
I used EPP foam but others have made it out of various materials including Dollar Store foam. It’s just a bit heavier and not quite as crash proof. This thing was designed to be very hard to damage. Perfect trainer. I built it for my daughter but I’m also planning to use it buddy box a couple of friends that have been wanting to learn to fly. Free plans are in the Scratch Build forum on RC Groups along with a lengthy thread. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1174874. www.fancyfoam.com sells a couple of pre-cut kits. There’s a guy on the RC Groups thread who made a 5 foot wingspan version out of Dollar Tree foam with under-cambered wings. In his video it looks like it flies about 3 mph.
