This weekend has been extremely fun, but also a little weird for me.

First my mum threw her 52th birthday bash, which was nice, cause lots of relatives and family came! Not only for my mum, but also to give some wise advices, good wishes and hugs before I leave this tuesday!

Than I had this crazy goodbye party after drinks at my office. Lots of friends showed up, which was totally awesome. The party took place in Havanna in The Hague and was a total blast. You can have a look at the pictures over here! The next morning I had a hangover in the category 'it was more than worth it' :-P! Thanks to all my friends who were able to come!! I appreciated it!

The less fun part of all the parties and attention however, is the 'last goodbyes' which really could be 'a last goodbye'. I had to say goodbye to important people who I may never see again. Although I'm not planning to stay away forever, I don't have a certain date on which I'd be home again. For my grandparents for example this is a little confusing and sad, since they are quite old already and don't have all the time of the life anymore to expect me home. My grandma's 84th birthdaybash was last sunday, again a good moment to say goodbye to my family (and spam them with my awesome cards :P) and also to hug my grandma and grandpa goodbye. It was hard, especially since my grandpa got a little emotional, which broke my heart a little. But well... I knew this part would suck big time.... but still... it's good to do it!

Last but not least, my parents, my bro and my sis had a 'last dinner' all together last sunday! It sounds more dramatic than it really is (i'm not dying haha) but still... it was nice and we had lots of fun! My parents got me a very nice necklace with this symbol of 'hope, faith and love' on it, which they hope I will carry, which will help me remember my roots and that there's alsways a place back home for me! (not that i need a necklace for that to remember, but its awesome they got me this). I made a little present for my parents, sprouted of my 'creative mind'. (haha me and creative). I got them a little photo frame with 2 pics of me and my parents and the lyrics (slightly adjusted to our situation) of the song 'I will find my way home by J.A and Vangelis'! (you can listen it here)! It was very well reveived I can say!!

Again.... these goodbyes were hard, sometimes a little emotional... but... I know it won't be forever and this might sounds harsh, but I'm not staying home for ANYONE at this moment in order trying to live the dream I have at right now! Knowing people care about me, and will still do after I'm back is all Í need to know.

Alright, enough of the sensitive bullshit right now ;-)!! There is some great news :P! I finally updated the 'gear, stuff and tools' section. Have a look here, or scroll to the top, to see what kind of equipment I'm tagging along on my trip!

Furthermore, take into consideration I won't be able to update my blog untill at least september the 25th. Since I'm on the train for almost 2 weeks after leaving Moscow on the 14th! Also, upon arrival in China, it is very well possible I still can not update my blog regularly because of the censorship China puts on lots of websites! But before you burst out into tears and pulling out your hair because of the unbearable thought of missing any of my great stories!! NO WORRIES.... subscribe on my mailing list. You'll find a subscription box on the right side of the home page. If you are on the mailinglist, you will receive updates whenever I put a blog online, but also I can mail you my stories in case this blog is inaccessable for any reason! (pay attention, after subscribing you have to confirm the subscription by clicking on a link in the email you will receive). If - for any reason- subscribing is not working, you still have the desperate need to be on the list (which I can imagine ;-) ) , send mean e-mail with your e-mail address and I will put you on the list manually! (my contact info can be found in the top right corner of the homepage)

Well... goodbye y'all..... I will report back to you after a few weeks!!!!

B.
