PLEASEFIX Remote not working with Pioneer Receivers.. Please don't ask to go through any procedures to try and diagnose the problem it is a known problem with Samsung TV's and numerous ppl are having the same issue.. RU8000
I have a Samsung 4K Q60R QLED TV and a Pioneer receiver (VSX-515V) that I use as a home theather. The receiver is plugged to my TV through an optical cable. Everything used to work perfectly until I updated to the latest firmware, AND reformatted my TV. After the re-format, the volume on the remote never worked again....same errors as mentioned by others. Samsung obviously messed something up with their update relating to the pioneer IR code datebase.
Now for the fix. The issue seems to be with the Pioneer IR code database so just find a receiver, that is NOT pioneer, that uses the same remote IR code as your receiver. I used this site " +controls/setup/questionsone/122842.htm" and found that the brand "WARDS" uses the same IR code as mine (RCA, Optimus, Magnavox, Capetronic, ADC, and Yamaha all seem to have IR codes that may overlap with some of pioneer's too). I then followed the procedure on my TV again for linking my remote, but when asked for the brand just searched "WARDS". The first attempt failed but the second "WARDS" code it used was able to power off my receiver as expected. It now all works fine again!
I want to say thank you it worked perfectly.. I thought about this lastnight and did try it but I only went through the Receivers that are listed in the didn'menu.. I didn't realize there were more stored codes that could be accessed via the search.. Once again you were a big help and I sure appreciate it..
Has anyone else had any luck getting their Siri Remote to control the volume of their Pioneer Receiver? I have the VSX-819H. The Apple TV (new one) sees the receiver, but it doesn't control the volume. I've tried adding it as a new custom device, and it still doesn't work.
I have a VSX-1120 connected to an TV4. Initial set-up default settings activated the volume control for my AVR. Not sure what adding a "new custom device" may have done but I recommend you check the "Remotes and Devices > Control TVs and Receivers" setting to confirm it is "On" at this time.
Thanks. I tried that, and the receiver is "on", but no luck. I also tried to add the receiver as a "custom" device, but that only improved the situation slightly (meaning that if you click volume up or down about ten times in the Siri remote, the receiver *maybe* goes up and down on level. Not a sustainable solution.) When I have the Siri remote control the TV volume, there's no problem. There appears to be an issue with the way the Siri remote's IR deals with the receiver's IR. I wonder (hope) if this can be resolved with a software update?

I also have an old Logitech Harmony One purchased and programmed years ago for use as a "universal all-in-one" home theater remote. Both it and the original Pioneer controller can still be used directly with the receiver just as the older, but limited, TV3/2/1 controllers still work with the TV4.
Not sure. As I indicated, I'm using HDMI Control "On" with "Auto" (HDMI) Volume settings on the TV4. Also using an older LG 3D HDTV model "just as it came out of the box." Only control problem I've noted is that if the AVR is on and i put the TV4 to sleep, it only shuts off the receiver. If the receiver is already off and I put the TV4 to sleep, then the HDTV turns off automatically. On the other hand, if I "wake up" the TV4 then it turns on both the receiver and the HDTV. Since this works for me and I already have other remotes that still work with the receiver, I haven't tried messing with the IR volume control settings at all. Sorry I couldn't help more.
My remote control is not work. I found the battery was wet and has leaked. I would like to open the case to clean it up. I have removed two screws on the bottom, but could not open the case to get to the circuit board. Any guidance would be appreciated.
This is a general guide on how to do it. It applies to most types of remote controls. Once the screws (if any) have been removed you need to separate the two halves of the remote. These are usually held together by small plastic clips.
In the video a small screwdriver is used to pry apart the two halves along the seam. I have found that if you use an old plastic credit card that you can achieve the same result especially if you start in a corner near the IR LED light. By using the card you will cause less cosmetic damage to the plastic case.
I know often times, manufacturers use many of the same codes with their various remotes as I have used remotes that were not the original remote to control units. I would "think" that would be the same with the Pioneer, especially for common buttons like volume.
You're right they may work some of the simpler things like volume but there is no telling, I couldn't find any infomation on if they might. I could end up with a few remotes that work nothing I have, no telling.
That's the bottom line, works and sounds great. My newer AVR's have more bells and whistles but I've never heard any reviewers say the new models sound any better. I now have the capacity to use Atmos, a feature I'll never use. I just don't want it.
My son had the dog eat the remote for his Denon and he got a brand new one from ebay via China. It was identical to the old one, was reasonably priced and it works perfectly. That sounds like the way for you to go.
I had a Yamaha RX V730 and it does good for HT, (no HDMI) the pre outs left the 2 ch sounding flat. When at the last pilgrimage a guy brought a bunch of equipment to sell so I talked with him and he had a bunch of receivers, any one for $100. I picked what I thought looked like the best with HDMI, none had the remotes. When I connected it the sounded was much better that my Yamaha for HT and completely different for 2 Ch on the pre outs.
Now both are old and my Yamaha was $5oo when new and this receiver was $12oo new, could have been part of the better sound ? Everything works perfectly on the Pioneer and it sounds really good, so I plan on using it until it dies. I don't change much just to change or try new things I just want it to sound good and it does.
One reason I thought about a generic remote was because of all the reviews I read about this receiver the only thing anyone said bad was the remote could have been much better. But since all I want is volume and mute it can't be that bad, probably need to just order the remote and wait a few weeks.....been thinking about it for a week already anyway.
Well that's the one I ended up ordering, it just came in today and it works great. Way better than I expected, I think it works everything from what I can tell. I am just happy to not have to get up to change the volume or mute, especially when watching regular TV or football.
Thanks everyone for the ideas, whenever I get a newer receiver will probably look at one that can be ran from a phone or Ipad, finding replacement remotes for broken or worn out ones is a pain. Thanks
