Hello all:  not sure who will see this, in the throes of Thanksgiving prep and travel, but here it is:

I'm looking for reccomendations for a video converter program for Mac.  I’m looking for something that will convert my performance DVDs to a digital, uploadable format (for my website, youtube, etc).  I have quite a few DVDs of shows I did that were given to me as hard copy DVDs only.  In the past my brother has helped me convert them, & he also converted high quality Beta and NTSC tapes  (remember them??? :) to a (hard copy) DVD format.  I’d like to own a program of my own.

There are a bunch of software programs out there by Skysoft, etc.  I'd appreciate your thoughts before I plunk down the money to purchase.  (I own iMovie, but not Final Cut or Avid - iMovie is complicated enough... :)

Thanks and happy Turkey all.

I use "Handbrake".  I have Windows, but I imagine they have a Mac version.  It is freeware, intuitive to use, and frill-free.  Worked the first time and every time.

It’s been a while, but I think I recall doing this with iMovie. It isn’t come with Macs automatically any more. You may have to go to Apple and hunt around for it.
