i don't know about "out there" but there are a number of State and Federal Parks in the East that have private homes in/on them...   Driving from Lake Placid to Syracuse, I remember seeing private homes in the Adirondack State Park (RT 2, I think) and some of those homes housed small businesses like antique shops and small local medical practices....

Fort Worden is a turn-of-the-century fort that was decommissioned after WWII and put into the state park system. All the buildings… officer’s housing, NCO housing, barracks, cabins, etc… is rentable and my studio is just one of several businesses and schools on the grounds. I sublease the studio space (formerly the power house) from Centrum, which is the non-profit I mentioned. They have been there for 45 years.

Robin, I have only met Lauren once, when I was running sound at one of the venues during the Acoustic Blues Festival here. She was probably aware of the studio before I moved in, but I should reach out to her since it is quite different from my predecessor’s. Thanks for the suggestion.
