Hi,

First of all, thank you for the wonderful tool!

My name is Alexey Sidorenko. Together with my colleagues at Freedom of Information Development Foundation (St.Petersburg, Russia) were thinking of applying FOIA Machine for the Russian legal system. I've always thought that your project is open source. But as soon as I started to get deeper into the code, I found that the project is currently in the closed development: https://github.com/igateno/foiamachine/blob/master/README.md

My questions are:
1) when do you plan to open the code?
2) If you're not planning to open the code publicly, can you share it for our particular project?

Thank you!

Alex

Hi Alexey,

If you're looking for an FOI application that can be customised to different countries, you might also take a look at Alaveteli [1][2] which is open source [3], and is intended for reuse in different jurisdictions. Do feel free to follow up with me if you are interested.

Cheers

Louise

Apologies for the late response! We are open sourcing the code soon. Probably in the next month or so it will be available on github. We've been busy working on the UI and finishing up our test cases and tamping down permission. Expect an update on this front soon.

Could you give an update on this?  It is now mid-August.  I'm a developer, familiar with the tech you use, and I care about FOIA.  When would I be able to contribute? :)

Well that is the best possible answer. :)
