Hare Krsna Guys,
This evening, Vandita and I attended an information session with the City of Toronto. It was a session to talk about 2014 dates, construction plans, and new services offered by the city. They also talked about the Pan Am Games which will be taking place in 2015 and how it will affect festivals in Toronto (we will be affected). There were some very key and major players from the city that were there and who we definitely want to develop relationships with. There were also representatives from other festivals there and it was a great networking opportunity.
It’s worth noting that this is a very new forum for the Hare Krishnas! We normally just do our festival and mind our own business. But as our festival has grown, we now play a role in the larger market of festivals in the city. We have the potential to become a marquee festival for the city and be a prime tourist draw! This can lead to endless opportunities for us!
I’d like to make a special request for devotees on the RY Committee to come out to these types of meetings. I really want to see members of our committee take on more responsibility and leadership on the team, with the vision that you could one day play an integral leadership role on the team and maybe even lead this dynamic festival one day! I can’t do it forever, right? And I have other increasingly demanding responsibilities!
So please consider this a special request to take advantage of these types of meetings. Whether it is with the City of Toronto, or Tourism Toronto, I would love to see members of this committee step up and begin to learn about the ins-and-outs of the festival with the hopes that you could one day be one of the key leaders for the RY Committee, if not lead the team itself! A special thanks and kudos to Vandita for ALWAYS replying to my emails for these types of calls and enthusiastically coming out to each of these meetings with me to learn more about how our festival fits in to the city’s multi-million-dollar festival landscape.
Food for thought, guys! Think about rising above your set department for the festival and consider the fact that you could be one of the next major leaders on the RY Committee! Hare Krsna. :o)

Thanks, prabhu! I love the idea of more devotees joining, but I really would encourage our existing committee members to step up and take more initiative and learn about how the festival works! :o)
