Customization in BombTag is diverse, with Schneider promising around 800+ customization options for players to choose from. You can change eight parts of your character which are comprised of the hair, the facial hair, head design, upper, mid, and lower bodies, and arms and legs.
BombTag is a fun fast paced Bomberman-style top-down bomb combat game that features fast paced arcade gameplay, lots of character customization options and online multiplayer gameplay for up to six players.
When the game was first announced, it was likened to LittleBigPlanet to highlight the game's emphasis on customization. Players are able to design and create their own characters, vehicles and race tracks in great detail. The overall style of the cars and characters is based on vinyl art and collectors' toys, but players are able to greatly modify their clothing and overall look.[5] Players are also able to create and modify race tracks using the in-game 'Track Studio' tool. This tool was showcased at Sony's E3 2009 press conference where one of the game's developers created a race track and its surroundings in a five-minute presentation.[citation needed] In April 2010, Infamous developer Sucker Punch Productions showcased the game's editing tools with a track based on Empire City, where Infamous is set.
Players start off by customizing their racer who begins as an all-white character model similar to Sackboy from LittleBigPlanet. Players can put various decals, different skins, masks, facial hair as well as other details on their racer. The material properties of certain customizable accessories allow players to make materials look more rubbery or metallic.[6]
The story centers around the player character, commonly referred to as 'Tagger' or 'Tag', who remains silent throughout in-game cutscenes. Biff Tradwell and Gary Reasons, commentators of the ModNation Racing Championship, announce the qualifier for this season's MRC tour. Tag lives with his mother at their family-run paintshop, where business has been slow for a long time. Upon showing an MRC poster to race to his mother, she informs him that his grandfather, Chief, is now a crew-chief, which, along with his own kart, is all he needs to enter the qualifier. Chief, while critical of Tag's choice of kart decoration, agrees to be his crew-chief.
Sony announced a range of pre-order incentives featuring video game characters. Kratos (from God of War) and his Kart of Chaos, Ratchet and Clank (from Ratchet & Clank) with their HoverKart, Nathan Drake (from Uncharted) with his Jungle Jeep Kart,[10] and Sackboy (from LittleBigPlanet), with his Cardboard Kart.[11]
Armando Rodriguez of 411Mania gave the PlayStation 3 version 8.7 out of 10, saying, "If you even remotely like Kart Racers and are interested in the deep create tools then ModNation Racers is a must buy. Just be prepared to endure some slightly longer than usual loading times and the insane A.I. difficulty in the Career Mode. If you can deal with that you will discover how great ModNation is."[41] Adam Larck also gave it 8.7 out of 10, saying that the game "shows exactly the kind of strong exclusive title Sony needs. Building off the success LittleBigPlanet had with customization, ModNation shows that racing games can be successful with huge amount of customization as well. Fans of casual racers have a must-have title in their hands. Other PS3 owners should at least check it out to have some racing fun."[42] The Escapist gave it four stars out of five, calling it "A standard, competent kart racer hampered by frequent loading times and irritating writing, but bolstered by an intuitive and powerful editor that lets gamers make their karts, racetracks, and characters their own - or at least lets them make their characters into Spider-Man."[39] However, Teletext GameCentral gave it six out of ten, saying, "Sony's Mario Kart clone has some impressive customisation tools but as a racer it lacks any real drive."[40]
Sonic Robo Blast 2 Kart (usually shortened to SRB2Kart or SRB2K) is a source code modification of Version 2.1 made by Kart Krew. Originally based on the Mario Kart mode of SRB2 Riders, it is a kart racing game with Sonic and SEGA-themed characters, items and maps. SRB2Kart features over 100 maps for two game modes: the main Race mode and a Battle mode where players fight each other using the items available in the game. Despite Version 2.2 being out, SRB2Kart is still supported by Kart Krew, the Message Board, and the Master Server. Future releases are still planned.
As of the current release, Single Player only offers a Time Attack mode where the player races against staff ghosts and earns medals for completing a course under certain times: Silver medals are awarded for beating a course's best time, and Gold medals are awarded by beating the top staff ghost of that course. Getting certain amounts of medals or playing a set number of races will unlock extra content, including additional cups and a harder race speed. Time Attack mode can't be played in a cheated game or if any major add-ons (i.e. different mechanics, extra game modes, level replacements or a character with an additional Lua script) are loaded.
SRB2Kart features 5 characters available in the base game, as well as an additional 30 in the included optional bonuschars.kart add-on. Up to 128 characters (including the base game characters) can be added to the game at once through the use of add-ons. Characters are automatically balanced according to two stats with values between 1 and 9: speed and weight. A high speed stat lets the player reach faster speeds at the expense of worse acceleration, and a high weight stat makes it easier for the player to push others around with less handling and wider drifts as a trade-off. In addition, a character's speed and weight will directly affect how fast they build up drift sparks: a slower, heavier character (i.e. Dr. Eggman) will build up drift sparks much quicker than a faster, lighter character (i.e. Sonic).
Replaces "Zone" with the title on this parameter, unless the NoZone parameter is set to true, in which case it won't display at all. The zone title is limited to 21 characters; if it is longer, a warning will be displayed and the name will be truncated to fit.
SplatNet makes a comeback in Splatoon 3, as part of the Nintendo Switch mobile app, or available from the official website. It's handy for checking your stats on the go, or setting up pre-saved gear sets. Of course, the main draw is the exclusive gear available from the SplatNet shop, which can be picked up at the Secret Sea Snail Society HQ. These can be regular clothing with unique abilities, or Nintendo-brand gear based on famous characters!
Ambitions are goals for your main character.
Value: the reward for completing an Ambition, set by your Key Narrator. Usually SP or a level, but can also be an item, power, narrative event etc.
Characters will continue to carry any weapon they might have at the end of the round to the following round and event. Their health will carry over as well, which can be recovered by resting the character and using a different character.
While climbing the bar in the ball breaking event, players can punch and kick to their left or right by holding the specific direction on the control pad. Holding no direction in the control pad and pressing the the A button (II button the PC Engine) will have the character punch in the direction of the ball.
In the Battle Royal event, most characters have unique special techniques that are performed by pressing specific buttons at specific moments. Some of these techniques also replace a character's normal attack. Otherwise, the controls remain the same from the ball breaking minigame.
The bars are close together, so players can punch and kick adjacent players to stop them from climbing or punching the ball. They can also cooperate or hinder their partner, but teams will receive the same score (unless they are disqualified, which will happen if the character's health is completely reduced and they are knocked down). Players gain additional points by attacking other players and bonus points are given to the player who breaks the ball.
Players will battle it out in a ring set on the side of the Reihō Academy. The last player standing wins. Players are eliminated if their health is reduced completely and are knocked down or if they are tossed out of the ring. If time runs out and no winner is decided, the player with the most points will win. Additional points can be gained by attacking other players. Most characters have unique fighting techniques which they can use in this event. By default, this event is played three times. The PC Engine version includes two other arenas (the judo fighting arena has no hazards).
At the beginning of this event, a player is randomly selected through a roulette to carry the bomb. The player that is "it" carries the bomb and they can pass the bomb to any opponent that is knocked down. The player who has the bomb when it explodes will lose the event and the remaining players will receive 200 points. The event uses the same control scheme from Battle Royal, but characters take no damage and no health is shown during the event. However, players near the explosion will take damage and the player who had the bomb when it explodes will have their health completely reduced. There are some hazards in the area to make it harder for the characters to escape from one another.
During events, players will find numerous objects on the ground that can be used as weapons. They can also be tossed to damage another player. Only one item can be carried at any time by each player. Items are used with the A button (II button on the PC Engine) and thrown with the B button (I on the PC Engine). Heavy items are carried on both hands and character attack and throw these items slower, but their movement speed is not reduced. Players who finish a match or event with an item in their possession will keep them in the next match or event (this doesn't happen in the Game Boy version or after the ball breaking minigame in the console versions).
