Momo starts like a really distant, cold hearted girl, that lost her memories and thinks that has only been born to fight, mistreating and ignoring everyone. As the game advances and she ends up being dumped by Mana finding confort on her friends, Mampukumaru, Ranka and Rinka, that helps her to change her point of view and see the things on other way, and in the end, find a reason to fight. Mana is the complete opossite in this regard.

Each of the series revolves around girls who have been infected with a mysterious virus known as the A Virus (Armed Virus). These girls are divided into two classes; Extars (エクスター, Ekusutā), who can transform into weapons when sexually aroused, and Liberators (リブレイター, Ribureitā), who have the power to wield an Extar's weapon form, known as Liberator Arms, through a process known as Drive. These girls are brought to separate islands to spend their days completely isolated from the rest of the world until the islands' Observers, authorized by the government Organisation AAA, ostensibly deem them ready to rejoin society again.

Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid, the anime portion of the franchise, aired in Japan from October 10 to December 26, 2015, receiving an uncensored broadcast on AT-X. Produced by Kadokawa, Showgate, AT-X, Marvelous, Genco and Arms Corporation, the series was directed by Hiraku Kaneko, who also designed the characters. Yōsuke Kuroda handled series composition and Hiroaki Tsutsumi composed the music. The opening theme is "Overdrive" by Hitomi Harada, while the ending theme is "Super Ultra Hyper Miracle Romantic" (スーパーウルトラハイパーミラクルロマンチック, Sūpā Urutora Haipā Mirakuru Romanchikku) by Yuka Iguchi and Mikako Izawa.[13]

One thing that rears its head throughout the experience are crashes. I came across quite a few during my play time at seemingly random moments. The technical aspects is truly what is holding this title back from greatness. Never knowing whether the next load screen will result in being kicked back to the Vita dashboard was extremely frustrating, and is something that is in desperate need of patching, posthaste. At least there is a generous autosave system, so there is never too much progress lost. With the noticeably long load times, though, these issues teeter close to becoming a complete showstopper.
