Subject: MORAL LESSON OF THE DAY - 228

GIVE  WHILE  YOU  ARE  ALIVE

A pig constantly lamented his lack of popularity.  He would always go up to his friend cow and complain that people were always speaking well of the cow but no one ever had a good word for him.  True, the cow gave milk and cream, but he maintained that pigs gave even more, they provided man with bacon, ham and bristles for brushes.  He demanded to know the reason for such lack of appreciation.  The cow thought for a while then remarked, “May be it is because I gave while I am alive whereas you give only after you are dead.”

What is the moral lesson of this story?

Some people accumulate wealth without enjoying a bit what they have earned.  They save for the future and for old age.  Death being uncertain.  It may take anyone by surprise.  In such an event the amount so accumulated would be of no avail to the person who greedily saved without spending.  It is better to spend and also give as much as possible for charity.  Derive happiness in giving while you are alive.

WORDS OF WISDOM

Acknowledging appreciation can be easy to do when things are going right, but even when things “seemingly” are going wrong, it is interesting how later – when we look back – if it were not for those “wrong things”, the “right things” never would have occurred…  I truly believe that as long as we stay on the right path, all that we “know” to be true, eventually comes to pass and for that we have only God to thank!

May the peace of the Lord be with you always.
