Just heard that the iPad app "journalPad" had to change their name, because Apple is starting to crack down on apps with "pad" in their name. Obviously this puts the name "FocusPad" in peril. I was already considering a name change, in order to make the function of the app more obvious, but now I might have no choice. So, just wondering what everyone here thinks of this name: Taskbook. Of course, if you have other suggestions, I would like to hear them.

Having the word focus in the name helped identify it as an autofocus system vs. just any old random GTD. I did think "TaskFocus" but then found a "Task Focus" already on the iPhone... though that authors app hasn't been updated for 2 years so maybe that developer wouldn't mind?

I'm not a fan of the word "book" for anything other than "books".

As usual, just my random thoughts. Keep up the good work! And thanks for soliciting feedback.

Regards

Paul

Pretty poor show from Apple IMHO.

I'd second having "Focus" in the name or some reference to Autofocus.
"Stay Focussed"? "Simply Focussed"? But I also fully support how the
primary metaphor for FocusPad is to be like paper but smarter rather
than like some complex task database. So it might be good to capture
that in the name so that the product doesn't wander in other
directions ;-) "Focus Paper"? Not great suggestions but might help
brainstorming. If I get some decent inspiration then I'll blat some
ideas across, but at the end of day I'm happy to just have the product
whatever the name :o)

Generally agree Focus is worth retaining - and I guess you could
use " pages" rather than "pad". That gives focuspages or
AFpages? Similarly other synonyms... Mike

Hi Mike,

"FocusPages" is okay, but not as good as FocusPad. For now, I will wait and see if Apple makes a move or not. They might only react when I make the app iPad compatible (which version 2.0 will be).
