Thank you for making this campaign so exciting with the questions many of you have asked, and the insights into your own lives that you have shared with me, over the past few weeks. It is hugely appreciated and just keeps on re-inspiring my confidence in the democratic process and the community in which we live.
My campaign team and I always believed the people of this community might choose a Liberal Democrat to represent them in the next Parliament. Last night the Evening Standard’s analysis of marginal London seats came to the same conclusion: “Lib Dem Andrew Dakers is not far behind and could provoke an upset. Collect your round from Campaign HQ from 8am onwards. We have rounds for delivery on foot and with a car. There are some excellent cafes nearby for breakfast!
2) Help through the day Unless you have been instructed otherwise, please come to the Campaign HQ as first point of contact today (election day). The result looks extremely close at the moment - every extra hour you can give us could really make all the difference!
3) Telephone “knocking up” For those not hitting the streets, we will have telephone “knocking up” taking place from Campaign HQ. This involves calling our supporters to remind them to get out and vote. It is supported with scripts and a friendly welcome.
Fixing our economy... The absolute priority for any incoming Government must be to address underlying weaknesses in our economy. I have long believed that developing a clearer sense of the economy we want to have created in 5, 10 and 15 years is vital – and that this clarity of direction must then inform our approach to investment in rebuilding our skills base. This is why in my final short video of the campaign I focus on a particular passion of mine: getting more apprenticeships established in the borough...
