Sorry, my emails seem to have gotten a bit jumbled. is 40 W/mK your estimate for the thermal conductivity of the Al-Pd or the Ni-Al?

Thanks,

-Oren

Just  for kicks, there is a new data sheet….attached.

Oren,

Good to hear from you again. Best number I could come up with from those I spoke with was ~40W/mK

Hope that helps,

Hi Oren,

I found an old data sheet for the Ni-Al Nanofoil that has a thermal conductivity value.  However, I don’t know if this is the as deposited or reacted material.  I never saw a data sheet for the Pd-Al.  It may be that Omar Knio knows the thermal conductivity value for the Pd-Al material and may be able to confirm the Ni-Al value.

Best Regards,

Mike

Yes, that's pretty much the point. I'm curious to see if the Pd-Al or the Ni-Al has a higher thermal conductivity after joining. The nanofoil is such a large portion of the joining thickness, it seems silly to simply discount its thermal conductivity contribution. I'll forward this question to Jacques then,

Thanks!

Hi Oren,

I’m not sure what you are asking for.  If you are talking about thermal conductivity testing on reacted Pd-Al and Ni-Al Nanofils done by Indium or RNT, I don’t know if that has ever been done.  Am I understanding your question correctly?

Many thanks!

Would you also happen to have access to measurements of the thermal conductivity of the reacted intermetallics from the Pd-Al and the Ni-Al nanofoils?

Hi Oren,

Try this site…it is a clearinghouse for online phase diagrams.

Mike,

For once, it seems as though the internet has failed me. I have been looking for some time for a Gold-Indium phase diagram for the final report. Do you have access to such a diagram, perchance? Might Jacques?

Thanks!

-Oren
