Hi Mike and the rest of the 188 Class,

Although I am not a part of team JAMWAT, I was wondering what the feasiblity would be for that team to make their assemblies on site since they sent 5 live chips to Agilent.

The reason is that for FOCETT, has only 2 live chips left in our possession.  Additionally we have not yet gotten any of the Gold to actually work on the Mo shim as can be seen in the chip we sent you, as well as personal tests on dead chips.
We would need these two chips to test our new method of using the preforms and nanofoil to try and ensure that it will work and all pieces are bonded appropriately.  It would be best if we had these two chips to actually try and make something that would work.

This would require JAMWAT making use of 3 of the 5 chips sent (2 are needed for the eutectic die attach), and making the assemblies on site at agilent if possible. This would require bringing your assembly, shims, and you could use our power supply.

I believe this would be the best alternative to this situation, so that both groups will be able to have something mounted on Mo shims.

  • So the question is, Mike, would it be possible to make the assemblies on Site?

  • JAMWAT, are you all comfortable with making the chips on Site, this would allow for both teams to have atleast Two attempts on a Mo shim (since we only have 2 on campus, and you guys sent the rest of your chips (5 live chips) to Agilent)?

Best,

Ted Yang

Thanks for the response Mike,

This option will greatly help both teams have working chips.

Since we are renting two cars and Thale (team JAMWAT) is driving the sedan;

Thale would it be fine that the rest of JAMWAT capable of fitting in the car go earlier?  This way atleast your group will be able to get their at 10AM to create your assemblies. As, two members of our team have classes they can not miss.

If you can not go early, for whatever reason, I can drive what ever team members from JAMWAT that can go early

We have two vehicles to accomodate us appropriately; one 7 passenger van and one 5 person sedan.  Suggesting that one car go earlier.

Thale, I can meet up with you to give you the pertinent information on getting the rental car as well as the emergency forms to be left in the car. Please text me at 916-420-6187.

Best,

Ted Yang

Hi EMS 188 Project Team,

Yes, I have 5 live chips in one of the chip carriers.  I think it would be fine to make a “good” chip on Mo here at Agilent.  However, I would like to suggest that whoever is going to do that comes earlier, say at 10:00 am.  I will make myself available at any time, even earlier if you like.

Hi Mike,

There will be one car arriving at 10AM to finish the Mo Chip assembly as well as getting the chips mounted for thermal testing.  Both teams will be there to get this set up working.
The first car has Thomas, Calvin, Albert, Jessica, and Andy.

The second car will still arrive at 12PM, due to some of the members having class.
This car has Ted, Oren, Francois, Ethan, Will, Max, and Thale.

Thank you again for making time for us on such short notice.

**All the chips that will be used for testing should arrive with the first car at 10AM.

Best,

Ted Yang

I do not have any constraints tomorrow morning and will gladly to drive over to Agilent early for the purpose of creating some live Mo assemblies.  I will find out who else in my group is available.  Ted, I will text you to work out the details.

Thank you Mike for this opportunity to pursue more pertinent results in our project.
