I am just working on foafssl.org now.
It is intended as a stepping stone, to help people get going without needing to set up the most expensive bit of foaf+ssl, namely - until DNSsec perhaps - paying a CA for a server certificate.
There are a huge number of parameters that one could return along with the webid.
We could just re-use the openid attribute exchange spec here, but that won't be something I can do immediately.
Can you not GET the WebId and get all the information from it in RDF? That gives you a lot more than what foafssl.org can offer you.

Yes, it's a good idea. I'll add it to the list of things to do, but it will take some time to get to.

True. But it's not a good idea to be on two bleeding edges at once. With foaf+ssl we are leading a new project. If we tie our demos to another research project, then there will be a double learning curve for people to go through:
foaf+ssl and monkeysphere
Monkeysphere probably requires setting up a plugin in the browser, and if we ask users to do that there may well be an amalgamation in first time users thinking that foaf+ssl requires the plugin.
So that would just slow the development of foaf+ssl at present, and introduce more complexity and debugging....

It does. The Cheese lover's club has a self signed server cert.
http://esw.w3.org/Foaf%2Bssl/RelyingParties
It is good that we have one demo with a self-signed-server cert but if all of them had that, then the ease of use story of foaf+ssl would be lost.

will foaf+ssl work if you install a self signed server cert?
You might want to look at sparcool.net
Which returns json representations.
We also do something similiar on publickey.info . Although we would
need to extend it out a little bit more. To give access to more
relations.
Thanks
