Hi,

I guess you are already aware of that foaf.me is down, or? So any
approximation when it will come up again?

Cheers,

Bob

Hi Bob

Sorry I didnt get back any sooner. Been sick in bed all day.

The box seems to be up. I've bounced apache, and although it was
originally not working for me for some time, it seems to be back now.

Perhaps there is an issue with the DNS. I cant easily trouble shoot
this part, as I dont currently have access, probably makes more sense
for me maintain things if I transfer that section over.

Akbar: do you know if it's possible to give me a login to the DNS
part of foaf.me, or maybe we can transfer it to my acct. and point it
back to the same server.

Another possibility is that foaf.me runs on a shared box with some
other apps, that may have taken down apache for some reason, but it's
not something we've seen in the past. I'll have to keep my eye on it.

Apologies for the outage, should be good again now.

Melvin

This may be a separate issue as the site loads fine for me, but I am
unable to log in. I click the log in button and then get redirected to
https://foafssl.org/srv/idp?authreqissuer=http://foaf.me/index.php
(which has no content)

Thanks a lot for the status report. I can now resolve http://foaf.me/.
However, when I try to access my profile, I get always a database error
"too many connections" etc.
The error message output is attached on this email.

Cheers,

Bob

Quick Update on this:

It seems another app on the box has had an issue. At this point it's
not clear whether it just ran out of resource or was attempted to be
hacked.

It's not clear at this point whether or not the current box has been
compromised. Hopefully not!

Proposed next steps:

1. Think about failing over foaf.me to another box that I have

2. Asses the situation on the current box and aim to resolve

3 .Get new SSL cert and fix login via foafssl.org

Unfortunately I've been somewhat unwell lately, so I have had limited
cycle to look at this, and (1) will require a bit of co ordination,
but hopefully we can get this resolved relativity quickly. I'll send
updates to this list.

In the mean time, foaf.me does appear to be still up an running, so
hopefully this outage was just a blip

Thanks
Melvin

It may be worth removing reliance on foafssl.org. I need to work on that,
and it has/had an ip problem with myxwiki servers.

Thanks Bob

There was an issue with mysqld on the box, I was able to work with
Akbar today to resolve this, so hopefully those errors have
disappeared
