About:
The Kadmos OCR/ICR (handwriting) recognition engine has multiple languages
support (it covers all Latin languages plus others). Interfaces are
available for C/C++/VB/Delphi, and Java upon request. It also has isolated
character (REC), isolated line (REL), and paragraph (REP) recognition
modules.
Changes:
New image manipulation functions were added to the API.

This release adds a CPP interface with a demo program, vector image
(in-memory and file) format support for Pen-Computing, tweaked memory
management, improved classifiers, an improved Image I/O API, and a new
sample image conversion program.

Changes:
A new feature extraction method with improved recognition accuracy is now
used. More fast and small classifiers (Jumbos_s_*.rec, Ttf_s_*.rec,
Hand_s_*.rec, ...) were added for time- or memory-critical recognition
tasks (such as pen computing). Speed and accuracy of these classifiers are
comparable to Kadmos 3.5. Additional labels (Cyrillic, Arabic-Indian
numbers) and additional special characters (^ ¡ ¢ ¥ § © ® ¿) for hand and
machine print were also added.

Changes:
re_closeimagefile() didn't close *.ras files correctly. The Ispell
parameters ispell_config, ispell_minlen, and ispell_maxlen were moved from
the ReSpellParm structure into the ReSpellInit structure, as they have to
be set before Ispell initialization. The int data types in the ReSpell
data structures have been declared as short to ensure correct
8-byte-alignment on different platforms.

multiple languages. It covers all Latin languages and others, including
Cyrillic. Application interfaces are available for C, C++, VB, .NET,
Delphi, and Java upon request. It has isolated character recognition
(REC), isolated line recognition (REL), and paragraph / multi-line
recognition (REP) modules.
Changes:
A small memory leak was fixed in rec_init(), and thus also in rel_init()
and rep_init(). Error corrections were made in the software copy
protection module. Wrong messages in Uninstall.exe were corrected. An
error in processing empty images with GENERAL_PREP_ONLY was fixed. A rare
error in binarization of gray images with a parameter setting different
from PREP_GRAYTOBIN_MEDIUM was fixed. The algorithms for image zooming
were improved. An additional parameter value, PREP_GRAYTOBIN_UNIFORM, was
added to binarize gray images with one threshold only.
