PATHWAYS THROUGH TO SPACE-- XXXIX "The Meaning of Substance" -- For the First Time the meaning of 'substance' has really become intelligible to me. I turn again to Spinoza's Ethics and read the third definition of the first part:"I understand SUBSTANCE to be that which is in itself and is conceived through itself."
