Hey all,

Been out of the loop for a while with family, work, etc.

Anyway been toying with the idea of revisiting Flyspray 2.0. A super lightweight task tracker built on Yii or Laravel, responsive, simple design to minimize number of clicks, and with a modern technology stack.

While our primary goal is internal use, i would love to make it open-source if there is enough interest from developers. I could see it potentially deprecating the current flyspray project as a separate branch for people that don't need backward compatibility. The goal though is to keep it very simple without all the bells and whistles that create UX bloat, though certainly open to some kind of plugin architecture.

If anyone is interested please reach out to me directly. Please only reach out if you are interested in either contributing development time (at least 20 hours a month), money for towards dedicated resources (at least $500-1000, preferably annually), or contributing in a 3-5 day hackathon to help build it out. Also open to exploring the notion of building it with SAAS and/or advertising functionality so there is a revenue stream to fund future development.

Based on interest we will gauge if it's worth the trouble of rolling it into flyspray as open source or just building it as an internal tool.

A hackathon in particular can be interesting if enough people wanted to partake. I can host in Los Angeles, or can pay my way if someone wants to host in Europe or elsewhere that is convenient.

Hello!

samdark from Yii team here.

That can be definitely interesting to build it on top of Yii 3 which is in development. It's going to take more time than just doing it with 2.0 but, since 3.0 is very flexible and is currently shaping, requests and contributions from a real world project are very welcome so Flyspray has a chance to get a framework specially tailored for the needs of the project.

If you are looking for adventure, I can assist with whatever I can:

1. Architecture planning.
2. Reviews.
3. Yii 3 enhancements.
