Dear FlyLady,
As we are getting Back to Basics, I thought I'd share my calendar.
Since I was in middle school (if not before), I have used some kind of calendar, usually a wall calendar. In college, it was a university supplied personal calendar. I am a pen & paper girl through and through and then came smart phones. Hahaha I like gadgets too.
Now I have a family of 5 and I LOVE the FlyLady calendar! The 8 lines are, dare I say it?, p@#$ect. One row for each family member PLUS breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Each family member color coded to match my daily carry planner and digital calendar. The FL calendar stays in my office as Master Control Center. Each month begins with a big planning session full of all my calendars and planners. During the month they all get synced on the weekend for following week. Future appointments are written in my FLYing purple calendar when made and any thing that pops up during day on the go is digital then to FL calendar when home.
I attached pictures of my calendar set up. Perhaps they could help another FlyBaby.
I do have one suggestion, (and please feel free to edit this if you wish to post). Could the holidays and events be listed in the notes section rather than on the day? I simply cover with stickers now, which works for me just fine. Just a thought...
Thank you so much for all of your purple FLYing products! (As I own several. lol) You and your team are awesome!

Dear FlyLady,
About a week ago, my DH had asked me about my plans for a specific day because he was trying to schedule things. I told him my plans---I had made an appointment that was after he got off work. A few days later, he asked about my plans again, for the same day. I reminded him, again, I had an appointment. Early last week, he asked yet again because a co-worker and dear friend of ours had a family issue come up and wanted to switch schedules with my DH.
I acted the part of the martyr, changing my appointment, and acting like it was a huge deal. Later that day, I expressed my frustration that I knew his schedule, why couldn't he remember one day out of mine. I was shocked with what he told me, "I can't even remember my own schedule half the time. We need to get a calendar we can write on and that is easy to see and use." I couldn't fathom why because "I" used my cell phone calendar. I even had his schedule on my phone, so I knew what he was doing---apparently before he did!
My stinkin' thinkin' took over and I just couldn't fathom what was so hard about putting appointments down somewhere. He has the exact same phone as me, so why couldn't he just to do what I did? The next day, I was reading FlyLady reminders and testimonials, and I was convinced. I even had to admit that using my phone to keep appointments was a pain because you have to go under appointments, then to calendar, to the correct day, and text-type in the appointment.
So, after being thoroughly convinced, I immediately followed the link to the FlyLady calendar and bought one. When it arrived in the mail just a few days later, I opened it and showed my DH what I had got for us so we can keep track of each other's schedules---he was excited! He especially liked the stickers for date night and massage time! LOL!!
So, thank you FlyLady for convincing me about my martyr attitude and my stinkin' thinkin..' The calendar is way bigger than I thought it would be, as are the squares on each day to write in.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Dear FlyLady,
Like everyone else I was so delighted to learn the FlyLady calendar will still be available! I ordered mine immediately and next year is already getting filled in with appointments.
Our family has grown up with the calendar as our lifeline. For many years the squares were filled with school events, church activities, Cruising through the Holidays tasks, work travel dates, family vacations, sports and clubs, etc.
Every week I wrote what we were having for dinner at the top of each day and that alone saved my sanity on busy afternoons, not having to answer that question multiple times! But time passes and now it’s just me and DH.
One day he said to me “I guess you get retired so you can go to drs appointments.” FlyLady, I took that as a challenge! Now our calendar is helping us keep engaged and busy. Yes, there are still the dr appointments but when we see a stretch of days without fun, we fix it quick. We look for short trips, fun activities and even home projects to fill in those empty squares.
God bless you, dear FlyLady. You have blessed our family in so many ways for so many years. My sister and my daughter are also FlyBabies.
Forever Flying,
FlyBaby Cindy
Dear FlyLady,
My husband and I are both retired and have discovered we need a calendar MORE now than when we both worked.
At first I was the only one writing anything on the calendar. Last month, I saw red ink and wondered what appointment I had coming up. It was my husband's appointment for his annual physical exam-even down to the phone number.
Yesterday, his cousin was visiting and said I have to change my hearing aid battery. Doesn't seem like the batteries last number of days the people claim.
My husband went to the kitchen got our calendar and brought it in to show the cousin. My husband pointed to the sticker from my hearing aid battery and said her battery is good for 150 hrs or 10 days. Most companies say that 15 hours is a day for a hearing aid battery. The number of days depends on the amount of technology in each aid. The cousin thought that was a wonderful tip.
Thank you so much for your web site.

FlyLady here: A calendar is a wonderful tool. You note all upcoming appointments and events. You jot down birthdays and anniversaries.
Like this FlyBaby, you can use your calendar as a daily diary for important
information that you might need to refer to in the future. No more little pieces of paper filling up your hot spots!
Hi FLYLADY,
I am one of the Flybabies who begged for you to carry the FLYLADY calendars again! I ordered 3 of them! One for me and two as gifts for family members!
These calendars are simply the BEST! I put every appointment on my calendar right away! I also put birthdays, menus, reminders of doctor’s appointments, and more! Recently I needed a record of when I had a surgical procedure done on my neck. I knew it was about a year ago but couldn’t find the paperwork.
Sure enough, it was on last year’s FLYLADY calendar! The calendars are worth keeping from year to year! Thank you for creating such a great tool!
