FLYLADY COMMUNITY - Get rid of your chaos and learn to fly!
Dear FlyLady,

First I want to thank you for teaching me that nothing needs to be p*** because no matter how hard I try nothing ever is. Understanding that makes beginning my projects much easier, and I love my projects. I also love my control journal, my feather duster, and my timer. I wish I'd met you and learned about baby steps 53 years ago when I was 12, but you were just a baby then or not even born yet.

I like your idea of 1-2-3-dancing through your routines. I've come up with something similar because I am NOT BO and the list of things I want to do dazzles and paralyzes me. I've often thought that I'd like to clone myself and become a committee of people working together, wouldn't that be nice? But now I have a "staff."

-my personal maid lays out my clothes, encourages me to exercise, and reminds me to go to bed on time.

-my upstairs maid swishes & swipes and dusts/cleans for 7 minutes every morning and vacuums once a month. Once a week would be p******, but once a month is better than never.

You get the idea, and you probably can guess who these maids actually are. : )

I also have a downstairs maid, kitchen maid, secretary, gardener, handyman, warehouse/craft manager, event planner, and a family historian/librarian. They all have daily, weekly, monthly/seasonal routines or projects listed in my control journal. They look a lot like your 1-2-3-dances. My staff is not perfect, but they are a big help, as YOU have been. Thank you.

My warehouse/craft manager will be decluttering the basement 7 minutes at a time because my event planner would like our guests to be able to find the pool table on Thanksgiving.

FlyLady here: I love this idea. You are in charge of your team of people! This reminds me of an essay I wrote about being the CEO of your own hotel. I will have to find that one for you.

Do You have a room that needs rescued? The holidays are just around the corner. If you spent just 7 minutes a day decluttering your worst room, by the time Thanksgiving rolls around; you would have spent about 9 hours in this room. One time I cleaned out our extra bedroom by removing 2 items at a time. This bedroom was piled to the ceiling.

The good part about clearing out a room with a 5 minute or 7 minute Room Rescue is that it is doable. You don't wear yourself out like you would if you marathon cleaned that room.

Set your timer and get out your declutter kit.
