Jeff,

In view of Dan Walker's email regarding the sale of his FT10, may I offer a suggestion.

For the good of the class and to avoid ridicule, please consider changing the name of the March 13-15, 2015 regatta to anything other than the North Americans.

A regatta consisting of half a dozen boats does not warrant the status of North Americans.

I understand your suggestion.  The boats participating are from different parts of the US and Canada.  Initially, more boats were coming, but the weather and other commitments have altered their plans.  In consideration thereof, I believe I will stay the course.

Your good intentions are to be applauded, but the fact that there are only a few boats attending regardless of reasons such as bad weather and/or other commitments, must be recognized and appropriately dealt with.

If they are not, the FT10 class will unnecessarily endure ridicule especially since the proposed North Americans Regatta is in violation of 

International Flying Tiger 10 M Class Constitution provisions such as the following:

12.2 Boat owners shall be members of the Association before racing in a Class event. 

12.3 Venues for World Championships and other International class events shall be selected by 

the International Flying Tiger 10 M Class Executive Committee in consultation with the Management Group. 

Please change the name of the March regatta to anything other than North Americans rather than providing the trolls on the SA forums yet another opportunity to belittle and ridicule Flying Tiger Class.

I really do not understand your concern.  We have not had an event for some time.  Both Tom Hirsch and Tim Chin have blessed it

My concern should be obvious to anyone who does not want to appear foolish. 

Hosting a regatta  billed as North Americans where only very few boats compete is a joke.

Refusing to deal with reality when there is plenty of time and opportunity to rename the regatta and avoid ridicule is incomprehensible.

By now you must know exactly who is coming, so please provide the list of entrants.

The decision was made early on and it would be worse to change it now.

We had a similar problem with the last NA's when the out of town boats bailed at the very last moment. It became more or less a regional event in reality but could not be reversed from an organizational view. I suggest all the owners to try to do their best to support these type of event and that is all I have to say.
