Call or Help at the Children's Health Fair

Hi All,

 

Many of our student organizations have helped in the past at the Children's Health Fair which is organized by Cecilia (Callahan) Becerra.  Last year, the event was cancelled, but this year it will take place on April 30th.  Cecilia is asking for student volunteers to help with BP and other health screening.  Dr Shantu Patel, who helps us at the Ensenada Clinic, will be there as well.

 

If you are interested in helping out, please read Cecilia's email below.  Make sure your student organization is aware of the event and contact Cecilia to let her know if anyone in your group can help.

 

Also note Cecilia's question about dental kits.  Can anyone help out?  Maybe one of our dentists would have contact info.

 

Please CC me on your correspondence.  I plan to attend myself and it would be great to see you there.

Dr Patel confirmed his presence at the fair; unfortunately none of the students replied but I think we'll have other volunteers from Assisting Children but would none of them are medical and I'll need help with taking everyone's vitals. There will be over 100 patients that will show up mostly for BP & fasting blood sugar check. I'll need help providing those services from medical personnel.
There's no map to the new site where la Esperanza has moved to (the old shanty town was abandoned and a new one built at a different location close by). I'll be working together with volunteers from Assisting Children (none of them are medical personnel); they'll be providing school supplies to all the children and doing other material work for the community. So if at least a couple of students want to participate it would be greatly appreciated. As I said, there's no map so we plan to meet at the MacDonalds located at the "Siempre Viva" exit off of the 905 close to the Otay border; Angelica and her team will lead us from there. Meeting time is 0800. Please let me know if any of you would be attending. Thank you.
 
Also, I would like to ask you one question that maybe you can help me with. Does anyone from the FS know a way to communicate with one of the big companies makers of dental paste/ brushes to request a donation of dental kits?? these are always very much in need and welcomed. I was able to obtain a donation of Arrow Head water in the past; can you help me with this one? or point me in the right direction? I'd greatly appreciate it. Hope to hear from you.
