Hi guys,

Here's some correspondence about getting the DSE paper presented at a conference. Marieke is already taking care of the abstract, so I'm sure she or Angelo will keep us posted (right Marieke?)

Greetings from The Cone,

Tom

Dear Marieke,

Thank you for the quick answer!!

It would be great if you can send me a draft of the abstract at the beginning of next week (even a very draft version would be fine), so I can take a look at it and eventually propose my suggestions to make it more “attractive” to be accepted for the conference (it is quite important to ensure the attractiveness of the abstract in order for us to be accepted; then, once accepted, the full paper can be exactly – or almost exactly – the same as the one you wrote for your assignment).

By the way: today I received the 2013 DSE projects book, and your satellite is one of the images chosen for the cover page ;-)

Have a nice weekend,

Angelo

Dear Angelo,

Happy new year! Yes, I would like to submit our paper to the conference, would be a nice opportunity to share our work. Sorry for the late reply! I will attend to the submission this weekend for my master is extremely demanding and I'm finishing off my assignment on Generic Mapping Tools as we speak :).

Kind regards,

Marieke

Dear Marieke (Tom in cc),

How are you? I hope everything is going fine, and (for Marieke in particular) you are recovering well from the accident of last Spring.

I am writing this e-mail as a reminder for a possible conference submission of your DSE paper.

The 4S conference (Small Satellites Systems and Services Symposium) will take place in Maiorca (Spain) from May 26th to 30th. Deadline for submitting abstracts is on January 13th (10 days from now).

More details on the symposium and the abstract submission can be found at the link below:

http://congrexprojects.com/2014-events/4S2014/topics-abstract-submission

I think this could be a very nice conference for presenting your DSE paper, especially because, looking at the topics, there are several of them in line with the contents of your paper (there is a session on “Academic Projects” and another one on cubesats…)

Also, it would not require any additional work for you, since the paper is basically almost written. Thus, why not take this opportunity to get one more publication in your CV almost for free? J

There will be for sure somebody from SSE at the conference, so there are also no problems for the paper presentation in case it is accepted (but of course, if anybody from the DSE group wants to go and present it personally, he/she will be given priority as speaker!)

If you are willing to submit the abstract, please send me a first draft of it at least a few days before the deadline, so I can get the formal approval from Prof. Gill (I need it for any paper sent with me as author or co-author, but it should not be a problem).

Thanks & see you soon (and, by the way, my best wishes for a Happy new Year!)

Angelo

Hey guys,

that sounds pretty cool. Is there anything that needs to be done? If yes let me know, I can work on something.

It sounds like a pretty nice opportunity to present our work. :)
Does anyone have an overview on how the process is going?

Kind regards,

Ann-Theres Schulz

Hi!

At this moment, there is nothing to be done. Angelo and I finished the abstract and he will contact me with the date and location where it should be submitted, when he has the information himself.

Groetjes!

PS. maybe an after-exam-how-is-everybody-doing-drink soon?
