An NIH-funded postdoctoral fellow position is available in the laboratory of Wan Hee Yoon at Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in Oklahoma City. Our previous work from studies of human and Drosophila genetics, has shown that genetic variants in ATAD3A, a nuclear-encoded mitochondrial gene, cause human neurological syndrome (PMID: 27640307; PMID: 32004445; PMID: 33845882). Drosophila models carrying the homologous mutations to the human variants exhibited defects in mitochondrial morphology, metabolism as well as neurodevelopment. We are looking for a highly ambitious and motivated postdoctoral researcher to elucidate the underlying cellular and molecular mechanisms of how mutations in ATAD3Alead to defects in metabolic homeostasis and neuronal development.

Our group is committed to the training of postdoctoral fellows, including the unique opportunities to extend the findings from the fly model to the patient-derived iPSC model. There is also the potential for qualified applicants to be accepted into an NIA funded T32 training grant fellowship. Applicants are encouraged from experts with confocal microscopy, image analysis, and Drosophila genetics. Interested candidates please send their CV, cover letter, and three references to WanHee-Yoon@omrf.org Website: https://omrf.org/research-faculty/scientists/yoon-wan-hee/
