Dear community,

I am Dr. Saliya S. Bawani, Ph.D. in Zoology, with research experience using Drosophila melanogaster to investigate neurodegeneration, particularly Parkinson’s disease, as well as reproductive and developmental toxicity.

During my doctoral research, I worked with transgenic Drosophila models of PD, investigating neurodegenerative phenotypes and evaluating natural-product-based neuroprotective interventions using behavioural, biochemical, and molecular approaches. My research experience also includes mitochondrial health in the context of neurodegeneration, longevity studies, nutritional interventions, and reproductive/developmental phenotyping.

I am currently looking for postdoctoral research opportunities, particularly in Drosophila-based research on neurodegeneration, brain aging, and the role of mitochondrial health in age-associated neuronal dysfunction. I am keen to further develop my expertise in these areas while contributing my experience in Drosophila disease models and experimental phenotyping.

I would be very grateful for any leads, recommendations, references, or contacts regarding suitable research groups or laboratories accepting postdoctoral researchers.

Thank you for your support and guidance.

Best regards,
Dr. Saliya S. Bawani, Ph.D.
