Several Items:
1. The Florida VOAD will be holding it Annual Meeting on Thursday,
May 14th, at the Governor's Hurricane Conference at 5:00 PM.
This will be an exciting meeting as we review 2008-2009
accomplishments and consider plans for 2009-2010. Florida VOAD will
be the host of the 2010 National VOAD meetings, scheduled to be held
in early May of 2010 in Orlando at the Disney Downtown Hilton, Lake
Buena Vista.
For State-Level Florida VOAD members: If you haven't already, be
prepared to pay your dues for 2009. Florida VOAD elects a new set of
officers/Executive Committee at the Annual Meeting, and current state-
level membership (i.e., dues paid) is required in order to be eligible
to cast a vote on behalf of your state-level organization (one-vote
per organization). Arrangements are being made to provide a table for
sign-in and dues payments at the Conference prior to the Florida VOAD
meeting.
2. Recovery continues for the floods in North Florida. While the TV
cameras have long since gone somewhere else, recovery efforts are
underway in North Florida with the setting up of a number of Disaster
Recovery Centers (DRCs) at several locations. The status of the
recovery, updates, and unmet needs will be discussed during FLVOAD
Conference Call today at 2:00 PM, details follow:

Friday - 2:00 PM
1-800-320-4330 Pin 897612#
Hint for the Day: Observe Conference Call Etiquette - Put phone on
Mute when not speaking.
Weather event(s): Flooding in North Florida
Purpose of call: The water is receding and the DRCs are being set up
in a number of counties.
The purpose of today's call will be to provide up-to-date information
on what is happening in those areas and identify any specific unmet
needs (personnel, agency assistance, individual assistance).
This will inform the VOAD community of continuing needs as well as
provide a picture of what's happening in that area - since recovery
efforts have long since been a subject of 6;00 O'clock news.
