I have serious doubts about this.

Think about this, if Google wanted to index metadata found in video files, they would have to actually download at least part of these files.
That would cause a big bandwidth usage which I don't think would be justified, because very few people will take the time to manually inject metadata in videos, while you can just write tags and a description in Youtube, for example.

Think of FLV metadata as meaningful information for the flash player software, if you need interactive features or anything that needs to be triggered by specific points during video playback.

Now, in 2012, I have yet to see a really interesting use of FLV metadata, probably because we're slowling heading towards an era dominated by MPEG formats, and people are not interested in maintaining support for proprietary video formats while there are widely used standards.

Hope this kind of answers your question :)

Marc

Hello, since 6 months I´m injecting meta data in my flv video. But I think twice, that google really reads those data for indexing.

Now I injected some strange words into 4 files and uploaded them. I used words where google still does´t have any results yet.

But after some weeks, I must say.... Google does not know these words. No results.

So I think I can cancel this work and will not inject meta data anymore. Why should I ? "Video Meta Data" seems to be a big joke....

What do you think ?
