Thesenovels differ from my previous series in that no character moves from one fairy tale to another, though there are links in the novellas. Storming the Castle, features a character from A Kiss at Midnight, and Winning the Wallflower introduces the heroine from The Duke is Mine. The tie that binds them is the thrill that comes from hearing the words Once Upon A Time. They can be read in any order.

The series consists of two parts, the first conducted by Murray Stein and focused on the texts listed above, and the second part assisted by John Hill and featuring an original method for the interpretation of fairy tales using psychodrama techniques.

Alright, I am stopping here with my fairy tale retelling reading list because I am going down a rabbit hole as you have probably realized. There are just so so many retellings. I guess the next challenge would be to make a Top 5 Bottom 5 list or divide the list into mythology retellings and fairy tale retellings.

The best platform where you can watch fairy tail online is Funimation, since it has all the episodes subtitled and dubbed, being available for the US, Australia, New Zealand and UK. Other platforms to watch the anime are: Crunchyroll available for the US and Canada; Prime Video only for Canada and Netflix for India.

"Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest" takes place one year after the defeat of Zeref and Acnologia. Natsu Dragneel and his team from the Fairy Tail wizard guild embark on the 100 Years Quest, a mission that has remained unfulfilled for over a century, in the northern continent of Guiltina.

Great list once again. When I was little there was a cartoon version of Fractured Fairy Tales that was one of my favorites and my daughter and I loved the Faerie Tale Theatre series of videos with Shelley Duval. Here is a list of Fairy links:

I loved the Jolly Postman when I was younger and can't wait to get it for my girls when they're a bit older. We just finished reading Goldie and the Three Bears, which was a big hit, and I just ordered a couple of the BabyLit books, which are always favorites around here.

I just finished reading Elizabeth Bunce's A Curse Dark as Gold, which is juvenile fiction (my 15 year old loved it). It is a take off of Rumplestiltskin with even more magic thrown in. When my girls were little, they loved Rumplestiltskin's Daughter by Diane Stanley.

As far as Fairy Tales retold, I'm really loving Marissa Meyer's Lunar Chronicles. Who knew that what I was missing in my life was a cyborgian retelling of Cinderella? Also, because I know you are a big audio book fan, this series has a fabulous audio version.

Oh, I love retellings as well. Some of our favorites are: The Three Little Javelinas, Fanny's Dream, and CinderEdna. Along with the ones you mentioned, some of my favorites for adults/teens are: Princess of the Midnight Ball by Jessica Day George, Just Ella by Margaret Peterson Haddix, Bound by Donna Jo Napoli, Wildwood Dancing by Juliet Marillier, and Toads & Diamonds by Heather Tomlinson.

Oh my! I am LOVING these posts with book suggestions for kiddos! I feel so deer-in-the-headlights when we hit the library and always kick myself for letting her rush out with a Diego or Dora book! And she really finds so much more joy from these kinds of books! THANK YOU is not enough! ?

I love this list! After reading this I took my girls right to the Library. Unfortunately we only walked out with Goldielocks and Just One Bear, but my oldest and I LOVED it! Had to read it again after we finished the first time per the request of my daughter, she's never done that! It's now in my shopping cart on Amazon. ? Thank you for sharing!!!

God made stories to help us grasp truth in ways our hearts may not catch any other way. Stories have often been a healing place for me, and this past year they became a much-needed escape in the form of fairy tales and fairy tale retellings.

Many amazing authors have retold familiar tales to show that, in the end, no matter how bad it is today, Truth, Goodness, and Beauty will win. These fairy tales helped me to hold on to loving and living courageously and continually reminded me that hope is worth holding close. Life may feel more of a mess than ever, but one day Truth, Goodness, and Beauty will win, once and for all.

I read more than ninety books, mostly fairy tales, in 2020. In case I am not the only one who could use the magic of a beloved tale retold, I have compiled a list of all of my favorites for you to explore, plus others still on my TBR list.

Starting with a heart-capturing story of Sleeping Beauty, Melanie Dickerson weaves the history of the nobility of Hagenheim into an entire string of delightfully rewritten versions of all of the most beloved fairy tales of our childhoods. Not only is each book whimsical and wonderfully interesting, but Melanie wraps into it hints of truth and courage that you can come back to again and again. (Though her books are often considered young adult fiction, I find them fantastic for older readers as well.)

Sarah Price: An Amish Fairytale series

Fairy Tales retold in Amish country? Well, I admit that I was pretty skeptical about how this would play out and honor the Amish culture while also keeping a thread of the beloved old fairy tales recognizable within the plot. However, if you love clean Amish romance, you are sure to love the sweet, endearing heroines and their stories of courage and the love that grows as a result of the risks they take for their families. This is such a unique setting for a fairy tale series, but Sarah Price makes it really work!

Lacy Williams: Cowboy Fairytales series

Looking to step outside my personal fairy tale box of historical and fantasy settings, I picked up this series. Set in modern day USA, these stories feature a taste of the West and the world of cowboys and ranchers, all while capturing the essence of what we love in the familiar old fairy tales. I am typically not as fond of contemporary fiction in general, but these kept me interested and intrigued!

Many of the authors featured below are Christians, but these series are not specifically geared towards Christian readers. While there are solid morals and Christian values woven into the many of the storylines, none of these books specifically mention Christianity, so they are classified as clean fiction. This generally means that there is more of a fantasy flair to the stories, but they are absolutely delightful reads if you are not specifically looking for stories that are written with Biblical phrases included.

A. G. Marshall: Fairy Tale Adventures series

This series has to be one of my top favorites so far. I have read dozens of renderings of the classic, most well known fairy tales and this is the first time that I really loved the retelling of Little Mermaid. It made it feel plausible within the setting of the series, and gave courage and strength to the characters that the cartoon retelling some of us grew up with lacked. The entire series is so well done. As much as I adored the Little Mermaid book, Princess of Mermaids, it certainly would be difficult for me to pick a single favorite!

Emily Deady: Fairy Tale Royals series

This series was written for young adults, but the strong emphasis in each one of the stories on kindness, forgiveness, and being willing to see beyond outward appearances is something that we all can take to heart. I enjoyed the characters and their growth in each tale, and am looking forward to reading the next three books in the series that are releasing throughout 2021!

She is a country girl currently living in Tennessee, USA, and carving out a little urban slice of country living down south. She and her husband seek to live their lives simply and joyfully and teach their two redheaded children to be intentional about their days.

Fairy Tail is a guild bustling with powerful wizards. The guild has faced many foes and made twice as many friends, and as the viewers follow the adventures of Natsu and the others, they bear witness to some of the greatest forces of Ishgar's, and Earthland's, arcane power.

Fairy Tail as an anime centers the concept of found family and friendship and the power derived from the meaningful cultivation of these ideals and feelings. The wizards on this list are those concepts made manifest and have been ranked thusly.

Updated April 29, 2023, by George Voutiritsas: Fairy Tail never reached the heights of other shonen series, but it has a dedicated fanbase nonetheless. It is a series filled with Mages and other beings who utilize various forms of magic, and most of the world's notable Mages belong to a Guild like Fairy Tail. This magic is a supernatural force that is part of everyday life. It can be used to do great things, but it can also be used to destroy. Certain characters wield magic better than others, and some possess immense magic power. Dedicated Fairy Tail fans know who the strongest characters in the series are, but there are others who deserve to be recognized as well.
