Saarang 2012: Professional Shows

Saarang, the annual cultural extravaganza of IIT Madras is being held from 18^th-22^nd January, 2012. With an attendance of 50,000 people, a plethora of competitions, lectures and demonstrations, and professional shows by the best in the industry, this is one festival you DON'T want to miss. The Professional shows or Pro Shows, as they are called, have always been the highlight of Saarang.

20th January: Devi Sri Prasad

An accomplished multi-lingual singer and the first composer to give hits in three different languages, Devi Sri Prasad  performs live on 20^th January. Catchy-foot-tapping songs like ’Ringa Ringa’, ‘Feel my love’, ‘Jalsa’ are sure to set the stage on fire. Also on stage would be Suchitra of ‘Excuse me Mr.Kanthaswamy’ and ‘Dole Dole’ fame;  Ranina Reddy, who shot to fame with ‘Kodana Kodi’; ’

22nd January: Vishal and Shekhar along with Shweta Pandit & Faridkot

The leading music duo of Bollywood and the composers of ‘Chammak Challo’, 'Sheila ki Jawaani', 'Ohlaala Ohlaala'- Vishal & Shekhar perform live for the first time in Chennai on 22^nd January. Joining Vishal & Shekhar on stage would be Shweta Pandit, well acclaimed for her songs- ‘You’re my love’, ‘Thug Le’ and ‘Nenani Nevani’ .

Opening the show are Faridkot, an up-and-coming band from Delhi, also the finalist of Channel V-Launch Pad.

21st January: Rock Show

Rock Show this year presents the Swedish metal band Vildhjarta, playing live in India for the first time. Co-headlining the show is Scribe, the only Indian hardcore experi-metal band to be nominated for the MTV Europe Music Awards. Also on stage would be Inner Sanctum, a thrash metal band which has opened for Metallica; and the critically acclaimed Chennai band, Blind Image.
