me (Marek J. change) 15:45 (less than a minute ago)Mostly because FLAC files are up to 80% smaller than corresponding ALACs.You can convert FLAC easily to ALAC but it makes no sense to have 80% bigger file that sounds the same as its smaller FLAC version. Especially with HiRez files there is more than significant difference in HD space.There are free players that play FLAC on mAC but they are not bit perfect or they are much more expensive than combination iTunes+BitPerfect.So playing FLACs in iTunes would save 80% of HD space + additional $$.
