Sorry Dr. Lipsett, 

We had our presentation at 3:40 pm and around that time the department sponsored food (coffee and cookies) had arrived. By the time we were done our presentation, all the food was finished and all of our group members were super hungry and we didnot have any food with us. That's why we left early. We were still present till 5:45ish pm. 

Really sorry about this.

1) Were you showing respect for the people who attended your presentation but presented while you were absent?
2) Would you expect an employer to accept this explanation?
