Progress Update

Hi Team,

Over the weekend my brother and I have been able to complete the remaining two designs for the flow system as well as the calculations. We will upload the mathcad files tomorrow. I have uploaded a calculation template on dropbox, and this is the format we should all follow. If you look at the phase 2 marking scheme, it states that all calculations not following a standard format will not be marked. You will notice a schematic section in the template. I have uploaded the two schematics my brother and I drew up on paint for the two flow system designs. Numan and Arjun, could you please create a schematic for your flow system. Also, once we have uploaded our calculations for the flow system, follow our steps.

We were originally planning on getting into the optical system analysis, but we haven't gotten back from Dr. Nobes yet. Also, after looking at the sample phase 2 reports, we realized that each of our subsystems should have three unique conceptual designs, rather than having a common subystem among all three designs. If you remember back to our second meeting with Dr. Nobes, he warned us that we have to produce 50% more/better work than a group of 4. Simply copying and pasting the same subsystem from one concept to the other will not be sufficient. This being said, the calculations should remain relatively simple. It's not until phase 3 that the calculations will go in depth. Again, look at the sample reports to get a better idea.

Lastly, we will now be carrying our phones around regularly. Could everyone provide their numbers so we could add you?

Good work guys. Hope all three flow system concepts are ready by now. Me and Abhishek have been working on mixing drive since last week, but unfortunately haven't have had a chance to work on it over the weekend. 
Also, we won't be working on 460 design until Friday of this week due to two midterms, and one project report. The plan is to devote entire reading week for our project. Lets meet up Thursday evening this time, and we will go from there.
