Are you concerned about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its effect on fluid mechanics education? I have experimented with ChatGPT for a few months and created a FREE two-part video series to examine this question and present my conclusions.

  1. The first 3.5-minute video at https://youtu.be/nPUYqhVqI8k shows Professor Skeptic asking ChatGPT a simple fluid mechanics question. The reply looks reasonable at first, but he points out several mistakes and inconsistencies. The bottom line is that ChatGPT is not yet reliable for teaching fluid mechanics.

  2. The follow-up 3-minute video at https://youtu.be/aMWNcOx-ZTY shows Professor Skeptic copying and pasting ChatGPT's original reply into a new query, asking it to point out errors and/or inconsistencies. Very interesting results!
