I've had this happen several times, and I have succeeded in the past by re-installing Flubaroo. However, that's not working anymore. I had another teacher tell me that he changed the identifying characteristics of the students to "Not Graded" instead of "Identifies Student," and that worked for him. It's not working for me though. I have two quizzes, each with only one student submission that have been "grading" for over 5 minutes. I had a lot of problems with this the other day, and I only succeeded at grading because I kept restarting the process.

Any ideas? Please and thank you.

Jennifer

Can you please share your spreadsheet with da...@edcode.org (edit access). I will take a look for you.

Thanks,
Dave

It's not perfect, but it's been better today. I've removed some of the student identifying columns, and that seems to help. I'm still fighting with a couple.

Hi Jennifer -

Something is weird here. This is a short simple quiz, so you shouldn't be having his problem. And removing student identifying fields, while it can help with a totally unrelated problem, should not make Flubaroo run any faster. This quiz should grade in a minute or two.

A few things:
1. Never re-install Flubaroo. It actually leads to 2 copies being installed, which can cause problems as they may both try to run, or the spreadsheet may get confused as to which copy to run at which time.
2. I see that you have installed a script called BITSAT, which is a copy of Flubaroo someone made to include negative marking. I haven't examined the script carefully, but I suspect this may also be causing problems as it probably reuses a lot of the original Flubaroo code, causing the same issue as #1.
3. Every time you run a script like Flubaroo, it calls out to Google over the internet for practically every row of data that's processed. This means if you have a slow or spotty internet connection, it can cause problems or grading can take a long time.

I would suggest you:
1. Start with a fresh form/quiz, and install Flubaroo only once. Or BITSAT. But not both.
2. Try to address any spotty internet issues you may have. For example, if you connect via WiFi, try using a direct connection with an ethernet cable instead.

Please let me know how this all turns out for you.

Cheers,
Dave

Today I created a copy of one of the quizzes, installed Flubaroo only once, and I'm getting the same result of "Flubaroo - Grading Your Assignment" working and working and working...

I think my laptop hates Flubaroo, which makes me hate my laptop because I love Flubaroo. :)

Jennifer,

Same problem occured with me yesterday. I had alot of data need to be graded. So I splitted the data and couple of sheets and tried again and I was successful. Do you have a huge data? If yes you may try this option.

Thanks,

Ravi

Hi Jennifer -

So sorry you're having this issue. I'm really not sure, especially since your quiz was short and sweet. Do you ever have internet connection problems? Have you tried this from another computer, or another internet connection (e.g. Wifi in a library).
