I do not claim to have written this alone, it's with prayer and my Bible notes. Some may not like this study, but we are blessed to ponder this book in the Bible..God even says that..please don't judge, just pray and ask God to lead you in this study..love BettyB.
Remember, God's people are already sealed with the Holy Spirit.
13:1; This beast was initially identified with Rome, the beast also symbolizes the antichrist-Not Satan. But someone under Satan's power and control. See the book of Daniel ..Daniel saw centuries earlier in a vision (Daniel 7.) As the dragon (12:17) is in opposition to God, so the beast from the sea is against Christ and may be seen as Satan's false messiah.
13:3; Because the beast, the antichrist, is a false messiah, he will be a counterfeit of Christ and will even stage a false resurrection (13:14). People will follow and worship him because they will be awed by his power and miracles. He will unite the world under his leadership (13:7,8), and he will control the world economy (13:16,17), People are impressed by power and will follow those who display it forcefully or offer it to their followers. Don't be mislead by claims of great miracles or reports about a resurrection or reincarnation of someone claiming to be Christ. When Jesus returns, he will reveal himself to everyone (Matthew 24:23-28).
13:5; The power given to the beast will be limited by God. He will allow the beast to exercise authority only for a short time. Even while the beast is in power, God will still be in control.(11:15; 12:10-12).
13:7; Refusal to worship this beast will result in temporary suffering for God's people, but they will be rewarded with eternal life in the end.
13:8; See chapter 3 verse 5..
In 13:10 the saints will need patience and endurance in this time of persecution.
Watch out for Satan's traps he will try to deceive and fool us.
Some believers will be hurt or killed..
The first beast came out of the sea, but this second beast came out of the earth, later identified as the false prophet. See: 16:13; 19:20) he is the counterfeit of the Holy Spirit. He seems to do good, but the purpose of his miracles is to deceive.
Some of these verses I will explain the best I can.. 13:14; throughout the Bible we see miracles performed as proofs of God's power, love, and authority. But here we see counterfeit miracles performed to deceive.
Now the mark of the beast is designed to mock the seal that God placed on his followers (7:2,3); Just as God marks his people to save them, remember saints are sealed With God's HOLY SPIRIT, some will not be followers and will worship all that Satan is and does..they show their allegiance to Satan.
I suggest for you to see: 13:18 on the meaning of the number 666. The number symbolizes the worldwide dominion and complete evil of this unholy trinity designed to undo Christ's work and overthrow him.
Revelation 13New International Version (NIV) The Beast out of the Sea13 The dragon[a] stood on the shore of the sea. And I saw a beast coming out of the sea. It had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on its horns, and on each head a blasphemous name. 2 The beast I saw resembled a leopard, but had feet like those of a bear and a mouth like that of a lion. The dragon gave the beast his power and his throne and great authority. 3 One of the heads of the beast seemed to have had a fatal wound, but the fatal wound had been healed. The whole world was filled with wonder and followed the beast. 4 People worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast, and they also worshiped the beast and asked, “Who is like the beast? Who can wage war against it?” 5 The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise its authority for forty-two months. 6 It opened its mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his dwelling place and those who live in heaven. 7 It was given power to wage war against God’s holy people and to conquer them. And it was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation. 8 All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world.[b] 9 Whoever has ears, let them hear. 10 “If anyone is to go into captivity, This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of God’s people. The Beast out of the Earth11 Then I saw a second beast, coming out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon. 12 It exercised all the authority of the first beast on its behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed. 13 And it performed great signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to the earth in full view of the people. 14 Because of the signs it was given power to perform on behalf of the first beast, it deceived the inhabitants of the earth. It ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived. 15 The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. 16 It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, 17 so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name. 18 This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man.[e] That number is 666.  2 Chronicles 7:14(NKJV) 14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
