Ultimately, we would like to deploy this agent to all 900 computers in our organization and have it not install the agent (unless required), and hidden as much as possible (I did find and option to hide it from the task tray which works great). Any tips or suggestions regarding the install options and what are the best options to minimize the logmein visibility would be great?
Customer Support and I can't seem to get on a call yet, I am wondering if we are simply in very different time zones, and I've tried just about everything I can think of on my own and from what I've found on message boards. Dashboard preferences - Restarting LogMeIn ... didn't work. Uninstalling on the host computer, reinstalling, restarting, coming home to reinstall LogMeIn client on my home computer, restarting, trying again ... etc. What's more interesting is I can access my file manager, that doesn't have any issues connecting and verifying, but I can't remote control my work computer.
We are researching this issue currently and would appreciate your help. In order to continue our investigation of this issue, we require your assistance in creating a test on a host computer currently affected. I have attached 2 registries for this test and the instructions below.
I need to reinstall the Logmein Host on one of my computers that recently crashed and needed full reinstallation. However redownloading the host to my PC is not working out, when logging in, it want me to upgrade my subscription to add the computer to Logmein though I just want to reinstall same PC (Stick-PC in my account) and not actually add an extra PC. And yes, the crash took away the originial download file, that might have worked. Also, if I try to generate a new download link for my computer, it is refused because an upgrade of the subscription is needed.
You can no longer change this locally while sitting at the host computer - you can only make the change while in a Remote Control session to the host computer. During the session, on the black toolbar/ribbon that runs along the top of the Remote Control window, click Options, and you will see "Lock keyboard" and "Blank screen."
Either set it to a longer time on the host or if you are away from you client for a certain period of time while connected to the host. Upon return uncheck blank screen and check blank screen again, which should turn it on.
With no host monitors there is only a blank screen at the client computer. None of our LogMeIn installs have a mirror driver installed. What needs to change to allow people to see two displays remotely?
I spent some time on hold with LogMeIn and found out the answer is no. You must have at least one monitor at the host. If you want to see two monitors at the client side, you'll need two monitors at the host.
H, yes the emulators worked. We used two brands from Amazon, one was FUERAN and the other brand was FREEGENE. I think any will work. Also, if you are emulating only two monitors, then you really just need one emulator on the host computer to emulate the second monitor (one monitor doesn't need an emulator) however, we did find that the resolutions were easier to match up if two emulators were used.
Follow the instruction shown there, it will let you install up to 4 virtual screens, I just tested them and they work with LMI once the real monitors have been disconnected from the host PC.
You're welcome!
The error occurs after opening the dashboard of the remote host using the logmein client software, then trying a remote connection from the dashboard. The remote host says it is in session however when trying to remote I receive the error "Your session may have timed out or the host may have gone offline. Please try again." and offers Reconnect or Close options. The reconnect button causes the same error. It appears to be a problem when first accessing the dashboard. After speaking with phone support they recommend restarting the remote machine, which can't be done until the client is back on site, defeating the purpose of having remote access. I have had this same issue with multiple remote hosts, running different operating systems. Any other solutions? Besides switching remote software providers.
@casascoco This could very well be caused by something on the host side, stopping the initial attempt. Please check that there are no pending OS updates. Could you reach out to Customer Support by phone when you have someone at one of the problem PCs to troubleshoot?
@AshC I have tried calling support when on site, and they ask for remote access to the host, which my clients do not authorize due to NDA's and privacy policies. I would be happy to try to walk through the problem with support without them creating a remote session to my client's host. However, phone support appears to be unwilling to help in this manner.
Hi.
I have a weird problem with ssh connection through logmein-hamachi. Everything seems to be fine, but I can't connect to one host in my private network.
There are 3 hosts in my hamachi network, each one is in different location. On my laptop (let say HOST.A) I have installed hamachi in latest version from AUR (ver. 2.1.0.86). The same version is installed on HOST.B.
There is also third host (HOST.C) which is located in other country and there is hamachi ver. 2.1.0.17 on this host. Arch on HOST.C wasn't updated for a while, so hamachi is starting there by entry in /etc/rc.conf. There is a fresh install of Arch on HOST.A (my laptop) and HOST.B.
I can connect by ssh to HOST.C, there is no problem with this. Also I can connect from HOST.C to my host. Problem is, that I can't connect to HOST.B from other hosts in my hamachi network and also HOST.B can't connect to them.
All hosts are visible in hamachi network. There is no blocked traffic because there is no configured firewall on any host.
I don't get ping responses from HOST.B. When I try to connect by ssh I get 'Connection timed out'.
There is also no response when I try to check HOST.B by telnet.
My remote computer (also Apple, running OSX 10.12.4 Sierra) can connect, and a window opens to the host computer, but all I see is my host computer's wallpaper and the menu bar at the top. No icons, no files, no windows. I can't click on anything. So I went in to the office and the host computer is fine - the desktop is looking normal. All my icons and windows display on screen and I can click everything.
@DougS1 It sounds like you've done the standard troubleshooting steps, and we'd like to document your issue further. Please call into Support at your convenience when you have access to the problem host PC: -do-i-contact-customer-support-1107395211
Hi @RICHF1 welcome to the GoTo Community. You can change which computer is set up as host any time you want, so to keep inline with your 2 licensees you can delete bluebox and set up another and when finished, set it back up.
Ideally, I could give my client a URL to test against. I just heard from him right now again and it seems the computer in question can't access email either right now -- but can do some other online tasks... and I see its status as on or off in the logmein client.
Easily create, manage and maintain virtual private networks from anywhere with LogMeIn Hamachi, a hosted VPN service, that extends secure LAN-like network connectivity to mobile users and distributed teams on-demand over the web.
I just installed LMI host software on it last week. It seemed to work when I tested from my phone right after install. I went home and let the remote user know it should be live and functioning. They reported to me later that it didn't work.
We have a HyperV host that is showing offline, we cannot ping it from other computers either, by hostname and by IP. We cannot try to RDP into it, or do any type of control by services.msc to the host... but we're able to get online with the VM that runs on the HyperV host -- It's also running Microsoft Server 2019 and Microsoft HyperV (w/ GUI)
Guys. I appreciate everything - as an update -- I found a weird work around -- From the VM machine running on the HyperV host I added the HyperV as a TrustedHost via Powershell command, and then added the HyperV host to ServerManager, authenticated with local admin and was able to view the eventlog pertaining to a bad DNS error, then realized when installed our tech didn't enabled RDP, and our LogMeIn resource was not working either (DNS Related) -- I had tried even restarting the services for LogMeIn from server manager, no dice. I believe also the ping not replying from the hyperv host on the internal network could be related to the network discovery being off.
From there I tried to see if I could connect via Powershell to the HyperV (I had my doubts since I couldn't get to computer mgmt, etc) - I was able to, I passed a registry command to enable RDP as well as network level access, etc. I then tried to connect via the RDP connection, ran a nslookup to see that it had a random dns address due to whoever installed the forticlient and was able to get in to statically set the DNS to something more public on the hyperv host for the mean time.
It sounds like the host has multiple network connections. It likely has one, or more, NICs that connect the host to the LAN, and one, or more, NICs that have the virtual switch which connects the VMs to the LAN.
If you can get physical access to the host, check that all of the NICs have lights on and that the switches are OK.
