"To find a word or a set of words we felt curated the whole thing, Bloom was it. And it was based on feeling and just a belief in the word. It actually has more weight for me than it has an ethereal quality. It came about where it made sense. [...] For things to feel right, it definitely has to sit for a while and I think that's why it's not ethereal for me. I associate that word with fleeting or not having any substance, I don't know. [...] I'm just saying that for us there's a certain intensity with this record, and I think the word 'bloom' is an attempt at that."[7]
For me, Beach House (more specifically bloom) brings to mind a future romantic companion that may or may not exist; someone who is passionate, lovely and whimsical, but who also understands reality and it's complexities and struggles. It causes me to revel in her potential presence and mourn for the potential that we may never cross paths, or that we will and life will get in the way. Maybe it's because just about every song has to do with love in some fashion, but I find their sound and lyrics to be vague enough to trigger all kinds of different thoughts and emotions that could be unique to each listener. I believe that the band has a way of making your innermost desires known to you in a mystical, magnificent way. This is true for me to an extent that I did not know to be possible through music.
And here we thought they'd already bloomed. Two years ago, Beach House signed to big-time indie Sub Pop, started selling out larger rooms, and put out their first great record, Teen Dream. Brimming with lush sadness and lyrics that painstakingly documented the evaporation of a love ("It can't be gone," Legrand gasped on "10 Mile Stereo", "We're still right here"). Teen Dream was a break-up album, a clearer and more assured exploration of the exquisite, minor-key feelings the band had been mining since their self-titled debut. It felt like such a complete realization of the band's potential that it had to make you wonder-- a little worried, even-- where could they possibly go from here?
What a beautiful home , and a joy to stay in. Every element of this house was perfect for us . We had comfort , every room had its own en suite. lovely quality bed linens, towels . in fact the whole house was of very high standards . We especially loved that we were able to go through the garden gate to the beach or walk into Folkestone . We highly recommend this house .
As a mix couples group including kids we enjoyed our stay and birthday celebration at the beach house. Sunrise and sunset is extra special as the homes feels with a magnificent light and the well being for everyone is unreal. Kids love the games room, the space to roam and the beach a hop out the garden on to the pebbles is just super fun and something you cant believe is possible .The kitchen is one of the best equipped and we do a lot of group travel and have a friend whos a chef. Small details considered including hand held blenders, heaps of crockery, range of knives and not one but actually two kitchens! Comfort in the rooms with superb mattresses, darkened room and hotel touches in the bathrooms with an array of toiletries, there are even choices of pillow! Sandgate has heaps within walking distance for morning croissants to fish and chips and even Dockers bar and a wine bar
The Beach House at Sandgate is situated in a perfect beach front location. The house was immaculate, comfortable and exactly as advertised. Bloom Stays kept in touch throughout our stay (not that we needed them) but comforting to know we could reach out if necessary, It was the small details that made a difference. The kitchen layout was superb and offered everything you would need. Bloom Stays offered some activities as extra and we went ahead with sip and paint. Sue and Sharron were amazing and we all enjoyed a really fun afternoon.
Lovely house with some nice features. Some parts are needing repair such as the bifold windows which were extremely difficult to open. The master bedroom is great the other bedrooms and en-suites could do with being brought up to same standard. The house is really well equipped with some nice touches such as toiletries in bathrooms and welcome pack on arrival
Lovely weekend in March, we were lucky to have weather that allowed us to walk. On the first day we left the house and walked to Hythe and had a great coffee at the cafe on the front. We then walked back along the canal. Day two walked along the front to Folkestone. Lots of art sculptures along the way. Bracing walk out to the lighthouse, then up to the little town with a variety of independent shops. Bus back easy journey. The house is very comfortable and well equipped. The main bedroom stunning views of the sea. Would highly recommend.
We stayed at The Beach House as a group of 6 over New Year's. The house is spacious and well appointed. The dining area (and master bedroom) has dramatic views of the pebble beach and sea, which are immediately accessible from the back garden. The living room is very comfortable and the wood burner gave it a cosy atmosphere. All of the bedrooms are large with their own en suites. The house itself is in a great location, moments away from the cafes of Sandgate, and there is a very pleasant walk into Folkestone taking in the art trail. Would happily visit again.
The house was prefect for our weekend stay. Brilliant location and very well maintained. Felt like we were staying in a hotel with the cleanliness and the little touches that really make a difference (shampoo and cotton buds in bedrooms and tea bags in the kitchen). Would definitely recommend.
Such a fantastic house, everything you could possibly want was provided. Spent the week here celebrating my 50th birthday with family and friends, and could not have had a better time. The owners were extremely accommodating given all the challenges due to Covid, we definitely hope to return!
What a beautiful house. We have had a wonderful week, the house is perfect, the view is incredible. Everything we were looking for. The village is great too, you also have lovely neighbours. Thank you.
OMG what a beautiful house with amazing views. Love the layout and decor of the house. Everyone has had a great week, the weather was superb for the time of year. Recommend the Sandgate Vaults for choice, value for money and welcome. Would love to come back soon!

We had a wonderful week at the Beach House. Both the house and location are excellent. Everything has been finished inside to such a high standard, and it was great to be able to walk straight out onto the beach each morning. We left feeling very relaxed and refreshed, and would happily stay there again. Nicky was prompt and responsive throughout the booking process, helping us to find the Beach House in the first place and answering all of our queries leading up to the stay.
A couple of days by the sea with family to celebrate an 81st birthday, the weather was kind, the walks invigorating and The Rocksalt restaurant in Folkestone to be recommended. The house is beautifully appointed and the owner's and housekeeper should be proud of their efforts. A big thank you from all of us for making our weekend so memorable (even if I did lose at pool!).
7 days close to the sea, with wonderful views in a wonderful house with everything! A family holiday to remember for every member. Wave jumping, fish and chips, breakfast on the beach, champagne bar, great views, cycling, pizza, long evenings, staring at the sea. Fantastic place for a fantastic family holiday! Thank you!
We have had a truly amazing weekend with lifetime friends. This house ticks eery box, 4 beautiful en-suite rooms, great games room, modern but cosy and comfortable. Attentive hosts, perfect in every way.
We have had a wonderful time here in Sandgate, with wonderful sunny days and BBQ's. Wonderful views and house - we are going to miss it. We especially liked Hythe so suggest going there for a walk along the canal. Thank you.
Spent 2017 Christmas here, we had an amazing time! The house is stunning and was decorated to make it feel like home. The kids spent a lot of time in the games room, which was a real asset! Managed to walk to Hythe which was good, and had hot chocolate . Was a fabulous family home, we hope to come back.
In the Concierge building, four wall sconces help illuminate common areas. A rectangular opaque vanilla glass shade contrasts nicely against dark aged bronze panels. Half-oval welded bars provide a striated texture on the exposed metal, evoking the trunk of an exotic tree or sand ripples on the beach.
